Tyga and YG have been actively stoking the anticipation surrounding their upcoming joint album, and the pair have given fans another taste of what’s to come.
On Thursday (June 15), the duo released their fourth collaborative track, “Platinum,” a California-themed banger, custom made by two of the state’s finest rappers.

Both MCs hail from the city of Compton and their chemistry is palpable on the new single. The track comes with a visual package that pays homage to the Golden State and all its cultural gems.
From The Bay Area to Los Angeles, the video features Tyga and YG turning up in front of landmark sites such as the Golden Gate Bridge and So-Fi Stadium. Most notably, the closing shot shows a mural of the late Mac Dre. Check it out below.
The new song is one giant flex. On the chorus, YG raps: “Yeah, we be goin’ platinum without bein’ thorough/ 4Hunnid, five-hundred what I get a show.”
Aside from talking about his accolades and wealth, the “Toxic” rapper also references his label, 4Hunnid, which he named after the 400 block of his childhood neighborhood in Compton.
Showing love for their home state has been central to Tyga and YG’s brand, which is why it makes so much sense for the two to join forces. Earlier this month, they summoned Blxst, who is also from South Central LA, on the song, “West Coast Weekend.”
Prior to this, Tyga and YG worked on two other songs together: “Go Loko” with Jon Z (2019) and “Run” with 21 Savage and BIA (2022).
While sharing the stage at Rolling Loud in Inglewood, CA earlier this year, they announced their collaboration album. The pair shared the news right before performing “Go Loko” together.

“So it’s crazy because last year, or like a year or two ago, we was working on the album, but the shit was going so crazy that we only came up with one song,” Tyga said, with YG in agreement. “But now we about to drop the new album, coming soon you feel me.”
