Chicago rapper Twista [click to read] will be playing video games for a purpose as he pairs with Chicago Bears‘ Fullback, Jason McKie and Wide Receiver, Brandon Lloyd to engage in activities with 30 children from the Chicago’s Cabrini Green Tutoring Program.
Next week’s “Monday Night With The Kids” will allow the group of first through sixth graders to talk and play with Twista, McKie and Cabrini. The program, entirely voluntary, allows children from economically disadvantaged families to learn and be tutored.
As for reason for the game night Twista said, “I’ve been doing these video game reviews for a few months and I wanted to get some kids involved, I reached out to McKie and Lloyd to make it a little more special for the kids.“
Lloyd, originally from Kansas City, explained his participation, “Being a big time gamer myself, I love this opportunity to play games with this group of kids. Games were a major part of my childhood and were instrumental in keeping me in the house instead of out in the streets getting into trouble.”
“I relish the opportunity to team up with one of Chicago’s best to give back to this community,” the Bears receiver said.
The event kicks off next Monday at 5:30 p.m. at 800 West Huron Street in Chicago.
“We have some other little things planned for the kids who come as well so that they will never forget this event,” Twista said.
