Tupac Biopic Slated To Begin Filming In 2014

    A Tupac biopic is slated to begin shooting in spring 2014, as per billboard.com. Producers and financiers from Morgan Creek and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films, including Randall Emmett, whose production credits include End Of Watch and 2 Guns, had a reception in Santa Monica, California last week to announce the news, according to billboard.com.

    The film has been on hold since 2011, when Morgan Creek and Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, engaged in a legal battle over the biopic. The company sued Tupac’s mother, claiming she had signed over the rights to Tupac’s music and story, and then tried to continue negotiating for creative control of the project, billboard.com says. The situation was settled out of court and Shakur is now an executive producer of the forthcoming project, the story says.

    The billboard.com story does not identify any actors who are slated to appear in the film. On the film’s IMDB page, no cast and crew is listed, other than the production staff and the film’s writers.

    In September, Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Films issued a press release that the biopic would be produced by James G. Robinson, David Robinson and LT Hutton, along with Randall Emmett and George Furtla. That press release said that the motion picture would be filmed in Atlanta and that it would be centered on the life of Tupac, with the press release referring to Pac’s “politically charged lyrics, inspired by his parents’ activism as Black Panthers in the ’60s and early ’70s, condemned governmental intrusion in black communities.”

    Tupac was shot in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 7, 1996. He died six days later.

      1. wouldnt say hes overrated if every single album HE MADE WHEN HE WAS ALIVE were all amazing with every single song being sick. the man has soo many unreleased material even the shitty fuzzy sounding unreleased songs are still sick. so how in the fuck is he overrated. lil wayans overrated, drakes overrated.

      2. cause he ain’t known for having a great flow, lyrics, and wordplays

        he got strong messages in his music though i give you that

        but as far as the mc skills goes, he’s definitely overrated

        just the fact that the dude lived a fast life does not mean he was the best rapper who ever walked on this planet earth either

      1. Khaled, Ross and Mill are being smart businessmen. It gets them publicity and buys. Maybe you can learn something from their hustle.

      2. DJ Khaled 41k in 4 weeks. LOL didnt seem to work out too good for him! he had ross, diddy, t.i. meek on the same song and shit still flopped

      #JaRulePoopsOnYallNiggas

    2. Oh god. Another picture glorifying an over-exposed, overrated, dead rapper.

      And yes, he is overrated. Just because someone was not alive when he was in his “prime” does not mean that by default it makes him not overrated. Anonymous 1 had a valid point. Anonymous 2 seems to be a bit too sensitive, and instead of articulately suggesting why he disagreed with Anon 1, reverted to low-brow insults.

      Yes, sir! You certainly told him off. I’m sure everyone here respects the expert opinion of an anonymous poster calling someone you don’t know on the internet who has a differing opinion from you a faggot.

      1. Have you read Malcolm X’s autobiography?? Do you know the philosophies and opinions of Marcus Garvey? Do you know the connection between Kwame Nykruma, W.E.B Dubois and Marcus Garvey had in common? Well Pac did and you don’t and therefore you think 2Pac is overrated.. SMFH.. SHUT UP WITH THE B.S YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT PAC’S LIFE FOOL.. #SPARKEDBRAIN

      2. At the age of 16 Lil Wayne was thuggin in the deadly streets of New Orleans

        At the age of 16 Tupac was dancing like a faggot in a tight ass tu-tu

        ‘Nuff said

    3. they can forever clone any rapper in teh game but they can never make another 2pac or eminem..wether you like their music or not.

    4. As an accountant for Cash Money, I can confirm that a documentary starring Birdman will be released in January 2014. It details the life & career of Brian “Baby” Williams and how he influenced other legendary rappers such as Rakim, Kool G. Rap, and Big Daddy Kane. Birdman, myself, and Ronald “Slim” Williams executive produced the film; I also directed it & wrote the screenplay. YMCMB – we run the game by the clit.

    5. Wayne boasts about his Blood Gang ties since 500 Degreez and he hasnt been checked or murked because he is RESPECTED in the Blood Gang commmunity.

      Pac hung around with hungry ass niggas that wanted a share of Pacs money. He had NO real friends

      Gang members killed his ass for being a faggot ass thug wannabe loud mouth.

      Burn In Hell Tupac Amaru Shakur

      Long Live Weezy!

      1. FACTS

        – Pac went to a rich kid school.
        – Pac had a boyfriend.
        – Pac took ballet classes.
        – Pac was a ballerina.
        – Pac wore a tu-tu.
        – Pac had a homosexual tone to his voice before the whole “Thug Life” image he pushed.

        Pac was a faggot.

        Wayne is a Triple OG Blood.

        YMCMB!

      2. 40 glocc g checked wayne and baby!!! had them too shook to get outta their trucks!!!!!

        and 40 glocc got beat down 1 handed by a male stripper!! what does that say about your boys at ymcmb?

      3. HAHAHA! Wayne aint no thug? If he was a fake blood he would of got his ass killed by now. Ballet IS for fags! 2Pac went to a rich school, took ballet classes, had a secret boyfriend and was a back up dancer HAHAHA! Wayne wore skinny jeans but Pac wore a fuckin TU-TU! HAHAHAHAHHAAH!

      4. Both Wayne and 2pac were fake thugs/g’s real ones are Freddie Gibbs, Brotha Lynch Hung, Gangsta Dresta & B.G Knocc out, Bad Azz, C-Bo, Mr. Criminal etc…

    6. son of bitch told me theirs leather facess out their i said yea your looking at one threw em on floor

    7. Pac is M.O.R.E. most overrated rapper ever. There are atleast 10 rappers who are better like;

      * nas
      * biggie
      * kool g rap
      * phararoche monch
      * rakim
      * krs
      * big pun
      * big l
      * big daddy kane
      * scarface

      Pac never was a skilled mc!

      1. At least 10? Dudes there are about 100 rappers who can RAP better than him. The reason people like Pac is not cause he was the most skilled rapper. Cause he was never a lyricists or had any extra ordinary flow. As a rapper he was average. But it was his message that touched the people and that he died early… sorry but its the truth people. I like some Tupac but he would never make it to my top 20 mc’s but that doesn’t mean that I appperciate and like his music.

    8. I’m sorry but I dont really trust some white guys telling the story of a black icon like Tupac Shakur.

      His life and story resonates with the black community in a way that most white people born living in the surburbs would really grasp.

      There are so many black producers and directors, why couldnt they take control of this project.

      I blame Afeni for letting some privileged white folk tell the story of a black icon. These white guys don’t care about Tupac, they just want to make some dollars!

      Shame!

      1. You know that Tupac is one of the few old school rappers that had almost more white fans than black fans, right? And I ain’t even a big pac fan before you saying anything like that.

      2. Even though the white guy is the Executive Producer i assure u Afeni will write the story so u can relax it will be kept as real as real can get count on it !
