Travis Scott has reportedly put together an A24 film to coincide with the release of his upcoming Utopia album, but now there’s doubts about it coming to fruition.

According to The Film Stage, Harmony Korine secretly directed an A24 movie written by and starring Scott. However, the rapper has apparently left the film in “serious limbo” by refusing to sign off on its release.

The movie they made is said to be an action-oriented feature film “shot entirely in infrared” that was reportedly recently test-screened at the Metrograph theater in New York.

Metrograph have advertised the “first ever screening of a very special filmmaker’s secret new project” for Sunday (July 16), but it’s unclear what that is.

Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Films signed a production deal with A24 in August 2021, with the partnership seeing Scott and his company producing movies alongside the acclaimed content studio.

Insiders at the time told Variety that the first “special project” was in the works and would arrive along with his Utopia album.

“Life is a movie,” Travis Scott wrote on Instagram at the time after the deal was made public. “So is this album @cactusjack and @a24 set out to bring amazing content for the future Thru film and media. Starting with this.”

The accompanying image featured what looked to be a blood-stained movie script featuring a title ending in ia, leading to speculation that it’s called either Utopia or Dystopia.

Travis Scott then took to Instagram in June 2022 to share a behind-the-scenes look of a shoot with Harmony Korine that included body armor, guns and masks.

Korine previously did the artwork for Cactus Jack’s JACKBOYS project and appeared in the music video for Gucci Mane‘s “Last Time” featuring Travis Scott.
