There’s a rematch on the Verzuz horizon and it’s coming this weekend. After hosting a heavyweight producer battle at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, Verzuz creators Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are linking up once again to spar on the platform.
It’s all going down on Sunday (May 30) during Memorial Day Weekend in Miami at club LIV. The battle will serve as the first installment in the new Verzuz Live series and plenty of superstar guests are expected to be in attendance when they take the nightclub stage over at 8 p.m. ET.
“Okay lets get it then Did y’all guess who the rematch was going to be!? me vs @TIMBALAND THIS SUNDAY LIVE from @LIVMIAMI Celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with our new #VERZUZLive,” Swizz wrote.
Timbaland and Swizz Beatz had a beat battle for the first time at Hot 97’s Summer Jam festival during the summer of 2018 and began the first iteration of Verzuz with an entertaining back-and-forth in the beginning of quarantine in March of last year.
With much of the country reopening in recent weeks, Verzuz Live will look to be the next step in the platform’s growth. The brainchild of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland proved to be a grand success as they sold Verzuz to Triller in a lucrative deal in March.

Washed?? Swizz beatz is the most underrated producer hip hop has ever had. Timbaland’s versatility inspired a whole generation of producers like mike will made it. All swizz beats sound the same.
Swizz Beatz is hit or miss. He has some incredible work that is some of the best I’ve ever heard (DMX – Flesh of My Flesh album), and then some terrible stuff too.
Very terrible. He’s definitely the wackest producer ever to reach that level. He gets lucky every once in a while and then the rest of his beats sound like a toddler was just playing around on the equipment.
