Timbaland‘s music has officially made it past the confines of the earth and into outer space, where it will reside indefinitely.
According to a report by Billboard that was published on Monday (February 26), Timbo’s music was among the digitized recordings sent out to the cosmos the Odysseus, which became the first private lunar spacecraft to land on the surface of the moon last week.

Dubbed a “lunar art museum,” the lander also includes songs by Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry and many more, totaling to 25,000 bodies of work. The songs live on a “glass, nickel and NanoFiche structure built to last millions of, if not a billion, years.”
“This is music that stands the test of time,” said Dallas Santana, whose Space Blue company was responsible for the museum.

Though SpaceX was involved in the project as the Odysseus hitched a ride on one of their rockets, Elon Musk has nothing to do with the music selection.
In other news, Timbaland recently opened up about his past drug addiction, saying that an out-of-body experience helped him kick his dependence.
In an interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game earlier this month, the super-producer detailed his struggles with prescription-pill addiction and how he eventually triumphed over the habit.
“I was addicted to drugs … heavy. Oxycontin,” he told hosts Gillie Da Kid and Wallo before explaining that his addiction stemmed from a dentist prescribing him Vicodin for tooth pain. “That Vicodin made me feel like Superman! I needed it more. And I used to lie that my teeth was still hurting.”

Timbo also credited faith with helping him kick his habit, saying: “God showed myself getting out of my body, like an out-of-body experience. I saw myself dead on the bed out of my body … He just weaned me off.”
The 51-year-old has spoken about his addiction plenty of times in the past.
In 2023, he credited Drake and JAY-Z for seeing him through his darkest times. The super-producer stopped by Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe in May and detailed how the two rap superstars helped him break through the throes of his dependence because they were unafraid to “check” him when things got scary.

“JAY-Z is a prophet,” he said. “God sent him. I ain’t never seen nobody like him. Hov actually raised me, and he don’t even know it. He raised me in the music business. He was so prolific, so wise beyond his age, that I was just amazed at just watching him. That’s why I had a different bond with Jay when it comes to my music. We was rewriting the Bible, in a way.
“Even Drake told me. That’s why I’m like, these guys are special to the world. Now, once they give you the information, it’s up to you to use it. I didn’t come out until the darkness, man, and that’s why I say, it’s all love with these guys. They helped me during my darkest moment.”
