The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 6/20/2011

For the fifth week in a row, HipHopDX is giving you you the 10 most popular singles on the site from the past week. After every week our staff will give you the ranked list since the past Monday, based on visits. These numbers are reflective from the time of posting.

    Drake Reclaims The Top

Previous winner Drake was back, with “Trust Issues.” This reflective song’s intentions are unclear. However, Toronto’s Young Money star is slated to begin formal promotion of Take Care next week. Previously, “Marvin’s Room” dominated the Top 10, which even made an encore appearance this week at #4 – proving that Drizzy remains at the peak of reader interest.

    Fathers Day Heals All Beefs

For Father’s Day DX posted an 11 year-old track by Jay-Z featuring then Roc La Familia Beanie Sigel. While the posting may have confused those not in the know, it was a great reminder to the many lyrical themes about fathers there are in Rap. Moreover, while it probably will never happen, the Broad Street Bully and the Brooklyn Baller had a strong collaborative career. Those not up on it should listen or purchase that Dynasty album. Those were great times.

      1. aint noone trying to start shit, 50s new song is hot. Nas should be number 1, 50 number 2. GTFOH with that Drake BS…he one ugly ass nigga!

      1. yeah that is a good track, Cee-Loo is on and off for me. But that is a smooth track. Reminds me of some 70s music.

    1. OK, THE FIRST 4 IS ALL R&B GAY-WEAK-ASS TRICK SHIT – NAS KILLS THE SWAG WITH REAL GRITTY STREET SHIT! NAS IS HIP-HOP RETARDS NOT ALL THIS R&B BULLSHIT! NO HOOKS FAGGITS! I CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT YOU GUYS LISTEN TOO, THEN TRYING TO BE HARD! GOONS!

      1. You dun fucked up twice bwoiii. first offfffff, you skipped commons number 3 track and just for that your a bitch. Second you used swag and Nas in the same sentence.

      2. while I agree nas goes harder than anybody above him on the list..like anonymous said leave the swag shit for lil b and young money threads..bitches

    2. Did Drake jus say “let them bitches in and tell em all leave they cellphones on the table where we can see them” – that nigga got trust issues!!!

    3. that drake song aint hip-hop.. its r&b, yall should take this ish off the list for real… drake aint even a hip hop artist no more..

    4. REMEMBER WHEN hhdx had a rating system that had a top 10 of all underground rappers??? now its all mainstream

      1. Its given its not gonana be a good list from the start. but to have Nas, Common, Styles P on it. It’s not half bad.

    5. I like Game’s song Pot of Gold with Chris Brown. It’s got a good melody and his lyrics are good. No name dropping suprisingly. Not sure if anyone caught that on his song.

    6. DRAKE IS THE BIGGEST HOMO IN THE GAME IF YOU CAN EVEN CALL IT HIP HOP!HOW IS HE NO.1, HE SO SOFT JUST SINGS LIKE A BITCH FOR THE BITCHES

    7. That Nas beat was pretty sick, wow someone actually sampled a beat? That’s one of the reason hip hop is dead so many people scared to sample, it’s all pop and keyboards now. But Nas really could never sell that much anyways. He might get love on the east coast but I’m LA to the core, we barely know this fool and he’s been in the game since what 93? You ask anyone out here their top 5 all time and he won’t be on it. Pac and Biggie are universal but out here Em is more respected than Nas. I never did understand the hype, I mean if you aren’t considered the best or done something no one else has ever done, you just another rapper with a few hits.

Pac and Biggie killed that nigga, no one would dispute that. I mean they both get more play and talked about this Nas and they been dead for what 15 years? Out here, I can’t speak for the east coast, but out here Jay Z even gets more props!

      1. Another simplified ”I’m going agaisnst the popular rappers on this site, justify it with the coast I’m from to create any kind of attention”. It’s the other way around, West Coast rappers are barely mention when it comes down to the list of the best rappers of all time. The whole thing is, Pac and Big are still in people minds because they’re dead. And that you stated Jay-Z as somewhat greater than Nas made your whole point invalid.
