The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 12/31/2012

2013 is finally upon us. We’ve survived the numerous Mayan prophecies that the world was going to end, and also survived another year without Dr. Dre’s Detox. So all in all, 2012 was a big success. Now it’s onward and upward, as some of our favorite artists kicked off the new year properly with some new music. Many see a new year as a new beginning; so it’s only right to bring one’s A-game when it comes to making tracks. Did the artists on the Top 10 do that? Well, they ended up on the list, so they did something right.

Lil Wayne Loves Good Kush and Alcohol

It’s no surprise that Hip Hop loves a good posse cut. Whether it’s some vague form of a supergroup, or just some friends getting together to rhyme, the impact of multple players weighs heavily into the success of song sometimes. This week, Lil Wayne dropped “Good Kush & Alcohol (Bitches Love Me)” with Drake and Future, and that made it to #1. Timbaland followed suit at #3 with Lil Wayne again, along with Missy and T-Pain aka “The Party Anthem.” That’s only the tip of the collaborative iceberg.

A$AP Rocky Returns with His 6-Minute Opus

So A$AP Rocky’s “1 Train” has been something of a Top Singles staple. It returns for the #6 slot. The track clocks in at over six minutes with Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson and Big K.R.I.T. Before that though, 50 Cent was one ahead at #5 with “Major Distribution” featuring Young Jeezy and Snoop Dogg. Then above Fif at #4 was Slaughterhouse with Eminem, “Asylum.” It’s all about crew love this week. Happy New Year!
