“The Greatest Hip Hop Battles Ever Recorded” Listed

Green-Label.com has named “The Greatest Hip Hop Battles Ever Recorded,” a list celebrating and remembering Rap’s greatest clashes over the past few decades.

Still debated to this day, Jay-Z and Nas split Hip Hop culture in half, with fans choosing between the factual breakdown of “The Takeover” and the harsh punchlines of “Ether.”

“Though the main target on ‘The Takeover’ was Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, history remembers the song for going at Queens’ most cherished emcee,” the piece says.

Though the careers of Jay Z and Nas both survived afterwards, other monumental battles were career enders for those on the losing ends. Examples include MC Shan and Ja Rule, who were never quite the same after defeats at the hands of KRS-One and 50 Cent, respectively.

Rick Ross’s feud with Jeezy is also included.

    1. 50 Cent didnt killed Ja-Rule career, fans then just had enough of Ja-Rule. Remember Ja Rule had his prime between 1998-2002. 50 came in 2003 . Fans were fed up with ja rule the commercial rapper.

    2. “with fans choosing between the factual breakdown of The Takeover and the harsh punchlines of Ether”.”

This characterization is such a fallacy. Ether had more factual, deep-impact lines than just shit talking on it.

      1. exactly. I hate when camel warriors keep saying ether was more emotional than factual. So Jay Z don’t look like a camel? So Eminem didn’t murder him on his own shit? So he doesn’t bite Biggie’s style? So in 88 he wasn’t getting chased through his building? So he isn’t only concerned with dissing women?

^^^ Um, instead of quoting Nas, come up with your own original counterpoints. Until then, shut the fuck up, suburbanite nerd.

      3. Uh, Jay Z is one of the kings of hip hop whether you love or hate him. I think we really know who won that war.

You can say Nas is a better emcee, but he been mediocre for more than 15 years. Jay Z and Nas when Nas was at a downturn in his career, but he hasn’t really been at the forefront for anything since that battle.

      4. jay stans cant talk about him without bringing up his money lmao he been trash since the black album n his recent stuff has been fucking embarrassing(holy grail with the nirvana sample smfh). Only reason he even as big now cause he paid sum nigga to impregnate beyonce

    3. why is rick ross vs young jeezy even on this list let alone #2 on the fucking list. is this a fucking joke? who even remembers this? where are the records? jesus christ.

    4. 1 – Kool Moe Dee vs Busy Bee (if it wasn’t for this one, niggas would still be rappin like sugarhill)
2 – KRS One vs Queens (made niggas recognize the Bronx started this rap shit)
3 – Ice Cube vs NWA (dismantled a whole group with just one song)
4 – Jay Z vs Nas (took this battle rap shit to the next level)
5 – Canibus vs LL (showed these rap niggas they’re not off limits just because they’re legends)

By the way, I didn’t throw Pac vs Biggie or 50 vs Ja in this cause all them beefs were strictly based on some street shit and had nothing to do with Hip Hop

      1. By your logic, Ice Cube vs NWA shouldn’t be there because that beef also had nothing to do with hip-hop…it was about money. You probably should have when with a Roxanne Shante battle.

      2. By street shit I just meant violence. You know them niggas wasn’t shooting each other over the beef. But I hear you

    5. The greatest battles involve niggas catching a body. Big gucci killed a nigga during his beef with jeezy. He murked jeezys homeboy and put him in the dirt. Thats real beef not that fake shit with all words no action. Free the realest nigga to ever hold a mic free gucci mane

    6. how the fuck they didnt list pac and biggie. that battle was crazy. i was such a pac fan i didnt listen to any of biggies shit for years. then i heard notorious thugs cuz i was a huge bone thugs n harmony fan, then i went back and heard both of bigs albums in 2002, life after death was his best album, just like all eyez on me was pacs best album these arguably greatest rappers of all time best albums were theyre last “alive” albums and double albums. no other rappers have dropped really dope double albums except for Chino XL. but hes underground so lots niggas dont know bout it.

    7. and yeah i know about streets diciple and the gift and the curse albums, and jay and nas are legends, but those double albums werent that good, def not classics.

    8. most one sided beat downs in battle history

      50/GUNIT/SHADY >>> MURDER INC
      D-BLOCK/LOX >>> G-UNIT
      CASSIDY >>> MEEK
      TIP >>>LIL FLIP
      EMINEM >>> EVERYONE

    9. How in the fuck is William Roberts the 3rds picture he cover photo for a story about epic battles. The biggest battle that guy had was passin his physical for his corrections officer position and searching his first ten butt cracks for drugs, after that he became numb to the cavity searches
