With the massive bootlegging of what Interscope Records tried to keep from hitting the streets to early, ‘The Eminem Show’ will now be dropping on May 28th instead of June 4th. Both Interscope Records and Goliath Management are trying to keep the streets interested in going to the store to buy the actual record instead of buying it on the corner. “Due to rampant bootlegging and Internet piracy, Aftermath/ Interscope, in conjunction with Goliath Management and Eminem, have decided to move the release of ‘The Eminem Show’ up one week”, both companies announced in a joint statement. “The first 2 million copies that will be sold in stores will feature a DVD of exclusive Eminem performance and interview footage”.
Cracking down on those radio stations that play yet to be released songs from the album, Interscope sent one radio station a letter of intent for them to discontinue playing anything. ‘It has come to attention that you are in possession of an illegal, unauthorized copy of the above named album,” Opie and Anthony read to their syndicated listeners. “It has come to our attention that you have/intend to broadcast recordings from such album. Please be advised that you have no authority to broadcast any recordings off of this album. … We hereby demand that you immediately cease and desist.”
