The Clipse Sign With Columbia

After years of label drama with Arista/Jive Records, Malice and Pusha T have
severed ties with Jive and the Neptune’s Star Trak Entertainment and inked a deal with Columbia.

With their sophomore album, Hell Hath No Fury, getting constantly pushed back through Jive (only to be released this past
November and sell 194k to date); the Clipse
opted to sign a five-year, 50/50 profit-sharing arrangement with Columbia for Re-Up Gang Records.

According to Billboard, the Clipse will
own the masters for all of their Re-Up
    Gang
artists (Ab Liva and Sandman); and will be releasing a Re-Up Gang album along with a new Clipse album.

    Next time around, the Clipse
won’t be working exclusively with the Neptunes
as they are expected to be working with Timbaland,
Danjahandz and Dame Grease as well.

    “I can honestly say
that we were all friends before the music and will be friends to the end.
Everything is business. If we had our way, we would always be on Star Trak. But
it’s what’s working for you and what’s not. We just want good energy, and
Columbia has both the urgency and the muscle,”
    the ClipseMalice says of
    their departure with the Neptunes
    label.
