Chicago emcee, The Boy Illinois released his anticipated project, Dusable courtesy of FakeShoreDrive today (August 31). The release features guest appearances from Twista and Trae Tha Truth and production from DGainz, BSG Buddy, Coop, 25th Hour, J-Mixxx among others.
During Dusable release party in Chicago (August 14), The Boy Illinois discussed the project’s inspiration.
“Jean Baptiste Point u Sable is the founder, the godfather of Chicago—a Haitian man, a black man,” he said. “I’m Haitian myself so I take big pride in that. That’s black history. That’s our history. That’s everybody’s history. Everybody that lives here, everybody’s that’s been here, he started it. He started trade. He was made out of cash—black brother. I wanted to real smoothly implement that into my music and let everybody know where we come from. That’s where we stem from and I wanted everybody to be proud of that. The album after this will be called Point. We’re working on that. But Dusable, in the times we’re in right now we really need to come together and we really need to understand ourselves.”
