Texas rapper G$ Lil Ronnie has been killed along with his five-year-old daughter in a shooting at a car wash.
According to police, two suspects opened fire in Forest Hill, Texas, near Dallas, shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday (March 3), with both victims pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses say they heard between 20 and 30 shots fired and that the suspects approached the 30-year-old rapper’s vehicle while it was stationary, before opening fire on both Ronnie and his daughter.
Investigators say the suspects fled the scene in a white Kia and that a warrant is out for their arrest, though their names have not yet been publicly shared.
No motive has yet been identified, though police believe the rapper (real name Ronnie Smith) was the target.
A woman named Stella Houston, who is Ronnie’s aunt, told FOX 4: “He was a rapper. He didn’t bother nobody. He didn’t target nobody. He was a family man, and he was going around rapping. Why would you target him?”
She added: “Cleaning the car out, and somebody came through shooting and killed him and the baby. And a baby. His baby. A baby!”
A witness also told the news outlet what she heard: “Six [shots] the first time, and then it was half a second, and I heard six more. Then a second later, I heard three.”
The Forest Hill Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspects’ whereabouts to call 817-531-5250 or email policeinvestigations@foresthilltx.org.
G$ Lil Ronnie’s last Instagram post before his death revealed that he threw a Valentine’s Day party for his daughter and her friend just a few weeks ago.
“My BabyGirl Couldn’t Stand The Fact Her Friend Was Sad This Morning Her Daddy Couldn’t Make it to Donuts With Daddy This Morning So Yu Know We Let Her kno it’s Ok 2 Join us & She Can Snap it Up & That Changed her Whole Mood. My Lil Valentines Literally,” he wrote.
G$ Lil Ronnie had around 40,000 monthly listeners on Spotify at the time of his death and is best known for his song “Hoodtime Killuminati” with fellow rapper Go Yayo, which has almost four million plays on the streaming platform.
He also recently toured with Soulja Boy and released his last album, Literally, in 2023.
