Tech N9ne Confirms Jay Rock & Kutt Calhoun No Longer Strange Music Artists

Tech N9ne has confirmed that Jay Rock and Kutt Calhoun are no longer Strange Music artists.

“Kutt’s always been different,” N9ne says in an interview with Mr. Wavvy. “Me and [Krizz Kaliko] are weirdos and we’re proud of it… Kutty is a lot cooler, you know, a lot more hip and a lot more stylish. He didn’t really like the scrubs on stage and eventually he wanted to be off stage with us and do his own show. He did that. He wanted to be his own man and not in the shadow of Tech N9ne. After a while, he wanted to do his own thing musically…We hope he can do it without Strange, but Strange is fuckin’ force to be reckoned with, my nigga. It’s hard out there for a pimp.

“Jay Rock is now officially all the way TDE,” he adds. “We did what we was s’posed to do. We got him off Warner Bros. They were sitting on his records and wouldn’t put it out. We snatched him off of there, put out his first record, Follow Me Home, and it’s fuckin’ beautiful. Now, TDE is poppin’ with Kendrick [Lamar], his family, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad and [SZA] and Ab-Soul and he needs to be where his family is. His family is over here, as well. We’re his extended family. But it’s always been TDE for Jay Rock. Strange Music was that other family member that gave him a boost, and now [TDE] got what they need to put him where he belongs with TDE. Now he’s 100 percent TDE, and I told him ‘You better murder it, Jay Rock. I love you, my nigga. Do your mothafuckin’ thug-thizzle.’ He told me, ‘Thank you, big bro. You ever need anything from me, I got you. Thank you for what you did.’ I’m like, ‘Nigga, I’ll still do it.’ So, it’s all love.”

Calhoun released his debut album, B.L.E.V.E., on Strange Music in 2004. Rock’s debut, Follow Me Home, was released by Strange in 2011.

    1. Thats a shame man, Strange just lost the only two artists that had any mainstream appeal. They been fucking kutt around for a minute and it sucks he’s gone. Hopefully he continues w the music. & Im pissed Rock is gone, dude was way underrated at strange

      1. You’re a fucking dumbass douchefuck. Kutt Calhoun sucked major asshole. Where’s the mainstream appeal in albums, songs and verses that suck ass?

Jay Rock’s first album was a dull piece of garbage. I think you need to reconsider yourself.

      2. Wow “Jay Rock’s first album was a dull piece of garbage. I think you need to reconsider yourself.”
Really dunno where you got this from, those aint the best of his songs on Follow Me Home, but it was decent and I aint heard people complainin…

    2. i never was a huge kutt or jay rock fan, but a label shouldn’t stop anyone from putting out quality music..they can still do great by themselves

      1. Nah niggas who want money sign to major labels. All these niggas who do it independently are most of the time too corny and edgy to appeal to the masses anyway (example: Tech and Hopsin). You aint gonna get a #1 hit single talkin bout IM GONNA KIDNAP THIS BITCH AND KILL HER thats some corny ass shit. But all you angsty white kids love it and buy it and so thats why corny niggas succeed. Would much rather listen to some simpleton dumb ass nigga talk about PUSSY MONEY WEED than some corny nigga talking about rape.
