Tay-K is having a tough time in prison, likening his treatment behind bars to that of a “hamster” or “ferret.”

The 22-year-old took to Twitter on Tuesday (January 17) to let fans know things aren’t going too well for him inside. According to Tay, he’s at “war within” and the correctional officers aren’t making it any better for him.

“Im @ war within,” he tweeted, before adding: “I feel like a hamster in here. They’re literally treating me like a ferret in here rn.”

Tay-K didn’t offer any further insight into his prison conditions.

Tay-K (real name Taymor Travon McIntyre) is currently incarcerated at Bexar County Jail in San Antonio, Texas awaiting trial in a capital murder case stemming from the 2017 shooting death of 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar.

The controversial rapper was sentenced to 55 years behind bars in July 2019 in connection to a separate murder case in Texas. He is alleged to have plotted to rob two men along with several others in July 2016, but the botched robbery resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man named Ethan Walker.

He was sentenced to 55 years for the murder charge, 30 years for aggravated robbery and given two additional 13-year prison sentences on two other counts of aggravated robbery. The sentences are being served concurrently.

Tay previously addressed his incarceration earlier this month, claiming race was a factor behind his lengthy prison term. He also said he should have been tried as a minor and pleaded for a “second chance at adulthood.”

“I really just need 1 chance @ adulthood,” he tweeted. “I bet if I was a lil white kid they wouldn’t have gave me no 55 years for a crime I was alleged to play the most insignificant role in when I was 16….they woulda rightfully argued that my mind wasn’t fully developed and gave me rehabilitation and a 2nd (1st) chance at adulthood.”

He added: “one of my codefendants was a white girl who was 16 jus like me…they didn’t certify her as an adult but they certified me n pimp as adults, pimp got 30, I got 55, she ended up getting 10 years of probation without no deal…that girl @ home rn.”

Tay-K found success with his 2017 hit single “The Race,” which he released while on the run from law enforcement after cutting off his ankle monitor. The song catapulted him to notoriety and peaked at No. 44 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

The track, which contains lyrics like: “Pop a n-gga then I go out my way,” was used as evidence in his trial.
