T.I. was officially released from prison on March 26 of this year. Since then, the Grand Hustle Records CEO has been busy recording new material (such as last month’s F*ck A Mixtape 
), as well as celebrating the chart successes of B.o.B. and 8Ball & MJG, both of whom remain on the Top 200 at present.
In a rare interview, Tip spoke with FUSE TV as part of Fuse On The Record with T.I., which will air Tuesday, July 6 at 8pm EST. Sitting down with FUSE’s host, Touré, T.I. spoke about jail and the lessons learned since October, 2008 when the platinum Atlanta star was arrested prior to BET Hip Hop Awards festivities.
Speaking on just that very issue, T.I. says that armed weapons are not equated with “realness,” despite the images often portrayed in Rap. “You see that’s not a part of keeping it real, in my eyes. Anyone who equates keeping it real to doing time or buying guns, I think that they are sadly mistaken on what keeping it real entails,” the rapper tells Touré within the segment.
Additionally, “the rubberband man” compared his thorough experiences in jails to spending most of last year in a higher security prison. “I’ve been to jail before, it was my first time in prison,” said T.I. “Prison is for people, prison you actually be around people who been there for 10s, 15s, 20s of year. Jail is where you stay before you go to court you know for maybe six, eight, nine months, 12 months at a time.”
He says that his treatment within the walls was what he expected: ordinary.
