SZA Offers Self-Aware Theory On Why She’s Single: ‘I Can Catch ‘Em, But I Can’t Keep ‘Em’

SZA may be one of the most desirable women in R&B right now; but the songstress claims she “can’t keep” men interested… and she knows why.

On a new episode of Chicken Shop Date published on Friday (July 5), host Amanda Dimoldenberg shared that she has had a difficult time getting second dates; a sentiment SZA echoed.

“I feel like I can catch ’em, but I cannot keep ’em,” she replied. “They get with me and they realize I’m fucking weird, and then it’s just like, ‘Aight.’

“The butt makes it seem like it’s normal. On the outside, like, I wanna shake ass an do all the normal things. But I also wanna just, like… I wanna swim in the swamp and I wanna, like, collect methane gas with my man. That’s my type of shit.

The TDE songbird has been in a pretty sharing mood lately when it comes to her life outside of music.

In a video shared on Instagram ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, she met up with U.S. gymnast Simone Biles and showcased her own skills in the gymnasium.

The clip begins with the two women embracing before SZA reveals that it had been a “dream” of hers to meet Biles, who is the most decorated gymnast in history.

The “Kill Bill” hitmaker also talks about her own past career in gymnastics before she decided to pursue music.

“When it was clear to me that I wasn’t gonna be a national gymnast, I was like, ‘Okay, let me see what I can do.’ I needed something to be competitive at,” she says.

SZA then dusts off some of her old moves by doing a handstand alongside Biles.

The Grammy-winner also posted a video on her Instagram Stories of her and Biles backflipping into a foam pit, after which SZA says: “That was fun as shit.”
