Swizz Beatz and Timbaland‘s Verzuz has been on pause since last summer, but they’re teasing an epic return for Season 3 that will apparently be well worth the wait.

The Ruff Ryders producer explained that the infrastructure of the Verzuz platform would be evolving for 2023 and there’s a “fantastic lineup” in store for upcoming battles.

“We’ve been changing the infrastructure because when we started, it happened in the garage and then moved to a significant platform,” Swizz relayed to REVOLT. “Now, we changed the whole way we’re moving but not entirely, so people won’t feel like it’s not the same.

“We have a fantastic lineup with people they wanted to see and even battles they think wouldn’t happen. Announcements will be coming soon.”

Swizz also recently spoke to HipHopDX to promote The Godfather Of Harlem but touched on Verzuz returning with more producer battles as well.

“Yeah, I mean, that’s how we started it. You know, me and Tim going head-to-head and DJ Premier and RZA. You know what I’m saying? We did a bunch of those,” he said. “I mean, we definitely need to get back to a lot of different things that people won’t expect. It’s going to end up to be really crazy.”

Verzuz has been on a hiatus since last summer when the likes of DJ Nelson and Daddy Yankee as well as Omarion and Mario faced off against each other.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland merged Verzuz in a lucrative deal with Triller with which they became large shareholders in 2021. However, trouble arose when Swizz and Timbo filed a $28million lawsuit against the company in August 2022.

About a month later, the producers settled the eight-figure lawsuit for an undisclosed sum in September 2022 following allegations that the video platform missed payments. As part of the settlement, the Verzuz founders received an increased ownership stake.

“Verzuz has always been a platform that is by the artists, for the artists and with the people,” Swizz Beatz and Timbaland said in a joint statement. “We’re glad to come to an amicable agreement with Triller and continue giving fans the music and community that they’ve come to know and love from the brand.”

Swizz added: “Was I ready to go to war? Yes. Am I used to it? I’m from the South Bronx. But I had to take my emotions out of it. There were too many creatives for me to lock this whole thing in the lawyers’ box.”
