Suge Knight remains protective of his sincere affinity for 2Pac, which often involves him calling out those he believes have exploited the late rapper’s legend — including Warren G.
The debut episode of Collect Call With Suge Knight aired last week via Dave Mays’ Breakbeat Media. Over the half-hour segment, the former Death Row boss referred to ’Pac as his “little brother” while setting the record straight about the latter’s relationship with Warren G.
In particular, he addressed a Drink Champs interview from late August in which the G-funk pioneer revealed that he was about to step in when ’Pac was sent to prison in 1995.
“I was gonna try to bail [2Pac] out. I got beat to the punch,” he explained. “I was going to put up the money and I didn’t want nothing, I swear to God.”
“Warren G, best stop lying — you didn’t fuck with ’Pac and ’Pac didn’t fuck with you,” Knight said in response to the above claim. “On top of that, you couldn’t take care of yourself, how were you gonna get ’Pac out of prison? Everybody, all of a sudden, they want to get ’Pac out of prison …”

Also during the aforementioned Drink Champs interview, Warren G reflected on his the chance to change Hip Hop history. During his conversation with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN, the “Regulate” hitmaker discussed having had the opportunity to defuse the West Coast–East Coast beef of the ’90s.
“I pulled up. Biggie was right there, we was chopping it up about everything,” he said about a conversation he had with The Notorious B.I.G. “Music with him and 2Pac, them having beef and shit. He was just like, ‘He tripping on me.’ He was telling me everything.
“So I said, ‘How about this, this what I’ll do. When I get at ‘Pac, I’ll say I talked to this n-gga Biggie, and this what he said. You n-ggas get this shit together and stop that shit.”
The 52-year-old continued: “But I couldn’t get to [2Pac] because it was all the other muthafuckas that was around, to really talk to him about what [Biggie] said. I was trynna get the message to him.”
Noreaga then chimed in, asking if Warren G could’ve somehow stopped the feud between Biggie and ‘Pac.
“It probably wouldn’t have been as bad,” the Long Beach native agreed. “Well, I would’ve pulled [2Pac] to the side and really talked to him. Like, ‘Look, this what this n-gga told me.’”
pac and Warren G definitely a relationship whether it was business ( he produced at least two songs , gotta get mine w mc breed and definition of a thug n***a ) or personal ( they were in similar artist circles) there was a connection… Suge be on some shit .
Pac worked with a lot of people. He asked for him. Pac is really who put him in the game. It was the first real record placement he had. Now, think about that when his homeboys were blowing up, and his stepbrother was Dr. Dre, that his first placement for an artist was Pac calling his record label and asking to fuck with him. But Suge isn’t lying about this. I wish some of the interviews that came out in the late 90s were still around because Warren G basically shit on him and called him a troublemaker when people asked him about how it was to work with him. Low key, like Napoleon has said, a lot of those DR dudes hated Pac when he came over there and took over with shit.
This is the truth, lol. Warren even said this early on after he got killed, but I guess the last 25 years has changed perspectives. I remember somebody mentioned in an interview with him in the late 90s how he laced Pac on that Definition of a Thug beat, and Warren said something about Pac being a troublemaker back then when asked about him and how they didn’t work that much together. Now, it’s we were best friends, and I was going to put the money up to get him out when he had been sitting in prison for 9 months. Suge speaking the truth on this shit. I think Warren a good dude, but he needs to keep his lies straight.
Bullshit. Warren G produced a couple tracks on the Thug Life album and there’s video of them. Sugar Nights always fucking lying.

Jimmy Iovine & Interscope Records put up the million dollars for Tupac’s bail but they funneled it through Death Row.
Tupac had a song with Warren G and MC Breed, “I Got to Get Mine” from 1993, produced by Warren.
No, he didn’t. Fuck you came up with that bogus shit? Suge had to go through Iovine to get his rights, which his wife facilitated the deal since she was legally able to handle business for him since they were married. Suge put up the money. Also, I’m well aware of Pac working with him. He’s the first person who put him on in the industry, which was funny since his stepbrother had just put out the biggest album in the world, and his old homeboys were blowing up with Snoop about to put out his album. That’s why it was wierd to see him shit on Pac in that old interview back in the 90s. it’s good he’s cleaned that shit up now, but don’t go adding extra shit to the story 25 years later to make yourself sound good.
Jimmy Iovine himself said that in the Dre documentary, and I dont see why he would lie about it. Pac was still signed to Interscope, I think he just wanted a label under them (being Death Row) to deal with Pac more on a day to day basis, due to all the legal trouble he had been in. It was also a good business/marketing move- 2Pac’s star was already on the rise, Me Against the World sold more than his previous 2 albums.. all while being locked up and couldnt even appear in his own music videos. But putting him with Death Row helped propel his stardom up to the next level. Unfortunate how it turned out but business wise it was a good call.
Interscope and death Row were pretty much the same label back then. They were literally on two ends of the same hall.
It’s why Pac didn’t want to go over there when Suge was trying to get him before that because he knew the fuck shit that was going on down there, the whole industry did. Suge ran that shit like a prison. They had a meeting in 93 to get him to go with Suge, but Pac wouldn’t do it. Iovine wanted Suge to take Pac off his hands because Pac was a handful. Jimmy saying that shit now because it was a lot of accusations of money laundering and shit going on where Death Row was said to be one company with Interscope, and they would be legally liable for that shit too. When you swallow shit people say, think about whether it makes sense. So Interscope was funneling Pac money in prison to fight cases, like $600k, but then he turned around and bailed him out too after 9 months? Pac was hot, but he wasn’t even generating money like that at that point. Think.
Suge bout to become Dame Dash 2.0
Warren produced Def. of a Thug Ni&&a, How Long Will They Mourn Me, Gotta Get Mine plus two more MC Breed hits. There are videos of Pac and Warren together. They clearly fucked with each other, Suge cappin. But I still find it hard to believe anyone would post that much bail money and ask for nothing in return
You ever wonder why they didn’t when Pac essentially came to the team he was part of? All of the shit you’re talking about is before anybody even knew who Warren was and he had gotten frozen out himself by his boys and Dre. When he got on and Pac was at Death Row, they didn’t fuck with each other. Warren even said as much in an old interview back in the late 90s. A milion songs recorded for All Eyes, and he didn’t produce one track for him when his homies were there everyday with Pac.
