StartUp Box Creates Access To Tech Economy In Urban Communities

Majora Carter founded StartUp Box with the goal of matching youth from urban communities interested in careers in the technology space with employment opportunities in Quality Assurance testing.

“We realized, through basic market research, an accessible career path for folks [who] might be really high on the talent range in technology, but just didn’t have the access to get the training they needed to move them there,” Carter says during an interview with PotentialOfUs.com. “And that’s when we discovered quality assurance [QA], which is software testing.”

Carter and her team then launched StartUp Box in September 2014 and have worked to create access for people in urban communities to the technology economy.
