St. Louis Rapper Dutch Jackson Sues ESPN

Last Friday, St. Louis rapper Michael “Dutch” Jackson filed a 31-page complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District against ESPN, And1, Amazon.com and other companies. Jackson alleges the companies used his song, “I Am the Greatest,” for marketing purposes without his permission.

“Defendants and those acting by, through and under them have used the plaintiffs’ work to market and sell literally millions of dollars of products, without compensation to the plaintiff,” the complaint read.

Jackson stated that he wrote and recorded the song, but didn’t officially release it to the various companies who used the work without his permission. Jackson’s complaint seeks monetary damages, both compensatory and punitive, for “all sales, income and profit earned.” According to Jackson’s legal team, each company that used “I Am the Greatest” directly violated the Federal Copyright Act, Federal Lanham Act, and various state laws.

      1. @Just GEE great use of a comment, you fuckin idiot. His attorney filed it on his behalf, which means that he filed it. Damn, you internet nerds never seem to amaze me. Faggot!

      1. Doesn’t matter “WHO” the fuck he is, if he or any other artist has copy written material he is doing what ANY artist in his position SHOULD do when HIS creations are being used without compensation to the creator.

      2. STL sit the fuck down? Who are you? STL Stand the fuck up!!!!! I rep the stl everyday all day. Why don’t you post your name and stop being anonymous u fake internet thug.

    1. If he was smart, he would have just reached out to ESPN and expressed interest in trying to promote the song for the network. Maybe he could have even gone on First & Ten and battle rapped Skip Bailiss. Instead, now he looks like a talentless hack, out for a few easy bucks.

      1. …and there you have it. Always some mad ass hatin’ n***a cause HE don’t know somebody, lol! Who are you? I’m born and raised and don’t know you, so STFU, lol! …but I know Dutch!!!!!

    2. So, let me get this straight: People are actually hating on the fact that he is suing? Who cares if you don’t know who he is. Does that make a difference. If Rachel Ray stole my grandma’s 7up cake recipe and made money off of it without her consent, then we have a problem! And please trust and believe that my granny, Mrs. Rosa Lee Chin, would have called her Jewish lawyer up IMMEDIATELY to sue for damages. Let this man get the money that is owed to him and shut up about it.
