Soulja Boy might be known for being “the first rapper” to do many things, but he’s taken an L with his latest claim of being the first rap star on Threads.
On Thursday (July 6), the social media-savvy rapper — like thousands of others — mourned the death of Twitter and opted to take his talents to Mark Zuckerberg’s new app.

“Damn it might really be over for twitter wtf,” Big Draco wrote on Twitter. “Thoughts on threads? @elonmusk.”
Soulja Boy then took to his account on the new Instagram spin-off to post his first thread, in which he claimed: “I was the first rapper on threads.”

However, despite his claim, Waka Flocka Flame actually joined Threads before Soulja Boy, and on Wednesday (July 5) — a day before the “Crank That” rapper’s claim — took to the app to let his fans know: “First rapper on threads….”
If his post wasn’t enough to prove he pipped Big Draco to the title of first rapper on Threads — or first mainstream rapper — when you join the app you are given a membership number that reflects where you joined the line as a Thread member.

Waka’s membership number is 661, 716, whereas Soulja Boy’s is way down the line into the millions coming in at 41, 978,061.

As an artist who used MySpace to help springboard his rap career in the late 2000s, Soulja Boy is already chiming in on the direction Threads should take, making a suggestion for it to take a page out of MySpace’s book.
“They should add a music player to your profile page like MySpace had,” he wrote on Threads.

He also dove right into promoting his Soulja Season album and forthcoming SouljaWorld Tour which kicks off in California on August 3 and will hit Seattle, Denver, Nashville, Cleveland, New York City, Boston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix and wrap up in Santa Anna on September 24.
In other Soulja Boy news, he might not have to pay his ex-girlfriend the $235,000 she was awarded in a civil suit earlier this year after a judge agreed that there was “no evidence presented” regarding Soulja’s income by his ex, Kayla Myers.
“The court is concerned that, absent at least some evidence on this point, the issue should never have gone to the jury,” the judge’s clerk wrote in an undated minute order.
A hearing on the matter is scheduled for July 21, and it’s possible that Soulja Boy may not have to pay punitive damages in the matter if the judge rules in his favor.
As for Waka Flocka Flame, he’s been taking shots at the new wave of emo fashion infiltrating the culture.

On the latest edition of Complex’s Explain Yourself, the Atlanta rapper read over and reacted to some of his old tweets. In each case, the “No Hands” rapper remained anchored in his beliefs, but one post in particular stood out.
“Nowadays everybody dress like vampires or a ninja [three laughing emojis],” the tweet read.
Reacting to the statement, Flocka said: “You know, you muthafuckas dressing like vampires calling it drip because Terrance Wang or fucking Raf Simons made it, so it’s drip. Boy, that shit ain’t drip — you look stupid. It’s like an expensive goddamn Halloween outfit.”
