Snow Tha Product Discusses Her Favorite Albums

Snow Tha Product just got off tour, but she isn’t taking any time off. The Atlantic Records artist plans to rerelease her “Good Nights & Bad Mornings” mixtape soon as she works on her debut studio album, which includes production from The Cataracs, among others.

“I’m livin’ in the studio now pretty much,” Snow Tha Product says in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. “I’m recording for the most part at the Atlantic studio, but I’ve been working with a lot of different producers. I got some Cataracs stuff and I’m really likin’ workin’ with them, so it’s pretty dope.”

The rapid-fire rapper says she wants to rerelease her mixtape for multiple reasons. “‘Good Nights & Bad Mornings,’ the one that’s out right now is pretty much my reintroduction into people’s lives that have been following me, and for anybody that hasn’t, I’m just showing them what I do,” she says of the rerelease, which does not have a drop date. “Then this rerelease I’m about to drop reintroduces people to my stuff and I’m adding more tracks I’m excited about dropping. I got a couple cool features on it, but not too much. Not too overloaded with everybody else ’cause I want everybody to know what I do.”

While on the road with Kottonmouth Kings and Dizzy Wright on the Fight to Unite Tour earlier this year, Snow saw her fan base, called the Product Pushas, expanding. “It’s definitely been growing, especially after going on this tour I’ve seen the pockets in the country where I got a lot of fans,” she says. “It’s definitely growing. I think a lot of people are waking up to my music and some of the people who heard of my music before are kinda seeing that it’s real and it’s not going away.”

Though Snow Tha Product grew up poor, she did not let her lack of resources keep her from listening to music. “Growing up I didn’t own albums cause I couldn’t really afford them so I would borrow people’s CDs and stuff,” she says. “People would burn me mixes. I would listen to same songs over and over.”

Snow Tha Product said she listened Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP “forever.” The second major label album from the Detroit rapper came out in 2000 and catapulted Eminem to super-stardom thanks to such blockbuster singles as “The Real Slim Shady,” “Stan” and “The Way I Am.” It eventually achieved diamond status. Snow also cites Big Punisher’s debut album, 1998’s Capital Punishment, as one of her favorites. The Loud Records release was the first solo album from a Latino artist to go platinum. Pun showcases a noteworthy blend of humor, gangsterism and lyricism on the collection, a combination that made many people consider him one of the greatest rappers of all time, even though it was Big Pun’s first album.

Snow Tha Product also said she used to listen to a lot of Missy Elliott and Aaliyah growing up, as well as the Pies Descalzos album by Shakira, an album she released in Spanish before she became a sensation in the United States. As for her own material, Snow Tha Product released the independent album Unorthodox 1.0 in 2011. The videos for “Drunk Love,” “Woke Wednesday” and “Holy Shit” have logged nearly 3 million YouTube hits combined. In December 2012, Snow Tha Product released “Good Nights & Bad Mornings,” which includes the selections “Cookie Cutter Bitches,” “Damn It” and “Lord Be With You.” She also appeared on Krizz Kaliko’s “Damage” single, which was culled from the Kansas City rapper-singer’s Neh-Mind EP.

      1. No shit, you retard. I grew up poor myself. I’m saying it’s stupid & getting real old to keep hearing that as a selling point. Like OK, she grew up struggling so therefore she must be legit as a rapper

    3. “People would burn me mixes. I would listen to same songs over and over.” I guess that’s what poor people do.

    5. This female is definitely on the radar showing off that amazing talent. She’s way better than all the female rappers in the history of rap.#truth

    6. Snow is definitely on the come up. More and more people getting exposed to her talent that no one can deny. I listened to Marshal Matters LP a lot too. If there is any rapper out there you should be on the lookout for its absolutely Snow Tha Product.

    7. Anyone hating on her just doesn’t know talent she’s not going anywhere tho and the people talking her down will be the one blasting her music

    8. snow is the most amazing person ever she deserves the fame. .she really started from the bottom look how far she has come and throughout it all she NEVER degraded herself. i respect her 100% i will always support her all day everyday.

      1. I agree with you. I respect Snow 100%. I am proud Product Pusha until I die for real. She the best rapper I have ever listen to. Snow Tha Prouct is not going away any time soon so any one who is hating could just hold they breath.

    9. i checked her the other day this lady got skills for real. she could dominate in a climate where shes better than alot of male rappers and would easily be the best non fake barbie rapper with a ‘this is me’ vibe to her… shes got love in NY

    10. lol at these 40 year old virgins below me detailing their fantasies over this rapper.

    11. She is super dope and her name needs to be mentioned when you speak about top female MCs in the game.

    12. I had no idea who the hell she was. But a quick YouTube search proves she’s actually pretty good. She’s got a pretty bad stagename though (just shorten it to Snow…)

    13. Lol at everyone wasting their time and effort hating on Snow. The fact there’s more hate than love shows me she’s kicking ass. She’s getting out there, and these haters aren’t used to a rapper talking about things other than Swag, Sex, Drugs, and their money. The game’s changing. Wake Ya Game Up.

      1. meaning dont waste your time reading comments on this site unless you just want a laugh at some people on here

      1. I wasnt saying anything about her lyrical abilities dude. I was just saying that shit beacuse I have a twisted mind.

    14. Truly, dreadful awful list apart from Pun, but I expect that from a hipster and the faggots supporting her. In these days of gentrification, waterd- down hip-hop unfortunately prevails over normal hip- hop and political correctness/affirmative action dictates no matter how un- talented a white/gay/girl or middle- class rapper is, they take prescience over normal indigenous rappers. It’s in their DNA to rape, steal and pillage, and artists from Elvis to Dave Brubeck to Banksy to eminem highlight the bigotry in white America when whites with an aversion to Black art/culture are only too happy appreciate it when it’s filtered through an ersatz white prism. I’ve had enought of these assholes ruining, infiltrating and commandeering our scene that I only fuck with death metal these days. That scene is still pure and unadulterated and isn’t governed by outside sources dictating who they should pander to. If hip-hop could reclaim this self belief and ethos, I may start listening to it again.

      1. the only reason people even know honey bec she dropped 100 vids n emails after the guy killed hiimself n got her interviews..she cant touch STP on the mic
