Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne and Cam’ron are among the Hip Hop stars to react to the bombshell trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks which essentially swaps Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic.
The trade, which was announced this past weekend, rocked the NBA, with the Lakers widely seen as having fleeced the Mavericks for the perennial All-Star who is considered one of the best in the league, while Davis’ best days are thought to be behind him.
Snoop, a lifelong Lakers fan, reacted to the trade by paying tribute to Davis, who won a single NBA Championship while in L.A.
He posted a photo of the big man on his Instagram Stories along with the caption: “Thank you, AD!” as well as a clip that was captioned: “Anthony Davis will forever be known as a champion with the Lakers.”
Fellow Lakers fanatic Lil Wayne was in complete shock at the trade, writing on X (formerly Twitter): “Lawwwwwwd have mercy!!!! Kuz my Lakers r obviously merciless!!!! This sh!t bout to be krazy slime!! Laker Luka?!?! Wow.”
Long Beach native Vince Staples joked: “We have returned to the era of The White Laker.”

Cam’ron discussed the trade in more depth with Ma$e on their sports talk show It Is What It Is, where the Dipset legend pointed out that the trade has hindered Luka’s earning power and accused the Mavs of “insulting” their former franchise player.
“People will sit there and say Luka’s out of shape, he’s fat or whatever. But at the same time, he’s been doing what he’s been doing,” he argued. “This is a 25-year-old that has been First Team All-NBA for five years, since he was 20 years old.
“And for them to get rid of that caliber of a player, coming off of a championship appearance, that means they were all fed up with what Luka was giving them.”
He added: “Not only that, but they fucked Luka’s money up bad. Bro, he was eligible for the super-max, which would have got him $350 million which would equal out to $70 million a year, and now he can’t get that going to the Lakers.
“So they basically said, ‘Fuck off and you’re not getting that money.’ That’s an insult to the highest level. I have no idea happened inside Dallas. It’ll come to light sooner than later.”

Mavericks general manager, Nico Harrison, defended the trade in a statement, saying: “I believe that defense wins championships. I believe that getting an All-Defensive [centre] and an All-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance. We’re built to win now and in the future.”
Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka also commented on the transaction: “Luka is a one-of-a-kind, young global superstar who will lead this franchise for years to come. His killer instincts and commitment to winning championships will be a driving force for the team.
“We are overwhelmingly thankful for [Anthony Davis’] six seasons with the Lakers, where he led our franchise to a championship and cemented himself as a perennial NBA All-Star.”
It is not believed either player was made aware of the trade before it was announced to the media.
The Mavericks lost heavily to the Cleveland Cavaliers 144-101 in their first game without Doncic on Sunday (February 2).
