It has been a bit since we last heard from Smooth Da Hustler and Trigga Da Gambler and Ice T has been quiet since his last group venture in 2000, the Analog Brothers. Snoop of course had the biggest year of his career and has had no shortage of the spotlight, that actually makes this project pretty surprising because it seems very low profile for Snoop. While Ice T was once one of hip hop’s most recognizable names, he no longer garners to much attention and Smooth and Trigga never got much in the first place. It is good to see that Snoop doesn’t feel he is too big to work with certain people.
Ice T had this to say about the group,”The album is tight. It’s called SMG. Myself, Smooth Da Hustler, Trigga Da Gambler and Snoop. Everybody. It’s the first East Coast/West Coast group. Smooth and Trigga have been my friends for years. I been down with them since ‘Broken Language’, so it’s just something that we used to perform together, so we just said , ‘Fuck it, let’s make a group.’ And the chemistry is real hot. As for whether or not the project will come out on Coroner Records, we are ironing out the details now. Well, right now, it might come out on Snoop Dogg’s label Dogghouse. We’re working on that, but its going down.”
