Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound have a new album on the way – and it almost wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for a tragedy bringing them back together.
Appearing on DJ Hed and Chuck Dizzle’s Home Grown Radio podcast this week, Snoop confirmed that he and Daz Dillinger had not been on speaking terms. But upon Snoop’s brother Bing Worthington passing away earlier this year, the guys got right back to it.
“My little brother had passed away, and one thing about my little brother is he loved the fuck outta Daz. He loved us together,” Snoop explained.
He and Daz then got on the phone, beginning a healing process that led to the upcoming full project.
You can watch the full episode below. The reconciliation conversation happens around the 1:26:04 mark.
In a song released last month, Tha Dogg Pound addressed rumors that they’d split.
The “Smoke Up” music video opens with a number of key figures in Hip Hop such as Big Boy, Xzibit, Cam’ron and more expressing disappointment at the aforementioned rumor.
Snoop Dogg then addresses the hearsay and sets the record straight by succinctly stating: “Fuck what you heard.” Once the song takes off, he doubles down with the bars: “Somebody said the Dogg Pound broke up/ Shut yo bitch ass up, n-gga, now smoke up.”
As the visual went live, Dillinger took to social media and announced that the above joint isn’t just a one-off release, but in fact part of a full-length project.
NEW [wheelchair emoji] MUSIC,” he wrote on Instagram. “NEW ALBUM [wheelchair emoji] W.A.W.G [fire emoji] We All We Got [wheelchair emoji] DROPIN IN JUNE ON @deathrowrecords EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY @SNOOPDOGG 2024.”
Snoop purchased Death Row Records in a surprising move last year. Soon after, he welcomed the imprint’s iconic catalog back to streaming.
The Long Beach native caught fans by surprise in early 2023 by announcing that the gangsta-rap label’s discography will return to streaming services.
Death Row’s catalog includes essential ’90s rap releases such as Dr. Dre’sThe Chronic, Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle and Tha Doggfather, 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, and Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food.
Fans can also dive back in to the soundtracks for Above the Rim, Murder Was the Case and Gridlock’d, as well as compilations like Death Row Greatest Hits and Christmas on Death Row.

@captain obvious, I have an android, I just downloaded my music the old-school way. Streaming is stupid. Ads, or pay money, and missing thousands upon thousands of songs. I understand the ease, it’s smart. But I’m the limewire generation. I hate streaming apps
There’s something about a bunch of middle aged men, and a sellout softy who did Nickelodeon and cooking shows that turns me off about them making gangster rap. Not even gonna lie, I find it very cringe with Snoop still making gangster rap. He isn’t a thug. Never was. And nowadays, he’s softer than the majority of men who work any labor intensive 9 to 5. They haven’t figured out how to make grown gangster rap, where is people like Masta Ace nailed that sound time after time. Snoop still glorifies thug life like it’s positive, while simultaneously making junky knock off reggae music with songs like “no guns allowed”. Tiresome. Quit the act. Dude never grew musically one bit.
Fecc your feelings about Snoop.. he’s more than you ever will be!!
Relax, I don’t like modern Snoop. I’m sorry that my personal opinions of a famous guy hurt your own ego or feelings enough to insult me.
I was right, Snoop gonna ruin this project with his corny played out sell-out snake presence.
