Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have joined forces for a short film to promote their new alcoholic beverage Gin & Juice, named after the classic song of the same name.
In the Prohibition era-themed clip, Snoop and Dre explore the “origins” of the drink, taking viewers back to the 1930s when the intoxicating combination was born.
The cinematic visual also stars actress Nicola Peltz Beckham and country singer Hardy, while the two rap icons play gun-toting bootleggers.
The short film also features Hardy’s country-themed remix of Snoop’s 1993 hit which, like the original, was produced Dre.
In a press release, Hardy said: “The entire ‘Gin & Juice’ process has been a dream for me. I recorded the song and in a few short weeks I was on set with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. It didn’t feel real until I showed up and I saw the names on the trailers.
“I spent two days with them and I can honestly say they are two of the coolest, most genuine people and they made me feel right at home. I am so thankful for the experience and I’m looking forward to hanging with those guys again.”
Hardy previously explained how the song came together: “A while back, I got a phone call saying that Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg would like for me to record my own version of ‘Gin and Juice’ for the launch of their new drink, Gin & Juice.
“I’m still in disbelief, but I am so stoked that I’m dropping my version of ‘Gin and Juice’ with the blessing of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg themselves. Thankful for the opportunity.”
Movie-quality promos have become a trademark of Snoop and Dre’s new spirits brand since since it was launched earlier this year.
In the first ad for the drink, which was played during the Super Bowl, the longtime collaborators put a spin on Quentin Tarantino’s classic Pulp Fiction.
Dre co-directed the short along with Miguel Flores-Gayle and Charlie Parish, who also produced the documentary series The Defiant Ones about the N.W.A legend’s career and relationship with Jimmy Iovine.
Away from commercial endeavors, Dre and Snoop have also been hard at work in the studio together for Tha Doggfather’s upcoming album Missionary.
If dre is famous as people claim, how come he never had a no.1 album? Ross had a few, drake has nothing but no.1 albums, and Jay z had so many but dre still ain’t no.1 yet? Lol
So you’re saying Dre isn’t famous? He’s one of, if not THE most influential producers in history . Now go back to listening to drake and CO Ricky, you fruitcake
Dre takes credit for other peoples hard work. He never wrote a single lyric or made a single beat. By the way, Ross sucks ass too and I don’t know why you lump him with Drake as one of the greats
@u clown, dude, can’t you seriously not recognize the most obvious trolling in world history? Damn, you must be super old.
At the facility I stay at, they give me 10 minutes of screen time per day where I can just let any r-worded thought dribble out of my tiny pea brain.
“A Yo Dre stick to Producing”
Dre lost his touch bout 15 years ago. And Snoop a corny played out sell-out who I stopped supporting bout 20 years ago.
