Detroit, Michigan trio Slum Village has announced their latest album, The Evolution. Founding member T3, joined by Young RJ and Illa J, will follow-up two acclaimed volumes of The Dirty Slums mixtape series with Mick Boogie with a retail album on June 25.
The Ne’Astra Music album will include appearances by Blu, Havoc, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Rapper Big Pooh, Focus…—who also shared production duties with T3 and Young RJ and others.
Evolution is the first official Slum Village album with this lineup. 2010’s Villa Manifesto included the current trio, along with former member Elzhi. 2005’s self-titled album was a two-member version of the group featuring T3 and Elzhi, with Young RJ and then-partner Black Milk producing.
The 1990s group was formed by T3, along with J Dilla (f/k/a Jay Dee) and Baatin, both of whom deceased in 2006 and 2009, respectively.

Not the same without Elzhi.
I am so looking forward to this. Both of the Dirty Slums tapes were great, and “forever” is right-on!
Slum would be so much better with ELzhi! T3 and El are the closest you’re going to get to the actual SLum brand. You guys need to work out whatever differences you have because Slum Village is a bigger name than eLzhi and T3 together.
Sure, but just appreciate what you already got and what’s on the way.
Hmmm… Anybody out there who wants to hear a new D12 album with Eminem’s brother instead of Em???
RAP GAME MENUDO
Cant wait to get the album both mixtapes was crazy…SV
True, probably the best mixtapes of the years they released. That single with De La Soul was CRAAAAAZY! A sure smash if it was the 90s.
Was really looking forward to this but including 3 tracks that were already on Dirty Slums 2 is bullshit!!
How many interns are posting positive feedback on this article?
This reminds me of the Pharcyde shows as of late.
Naw. That ain’t Pharcyde that’s just a portion, a portion that owns the rights to the brand before your eyes.
If these cats were really about it they wouldn’t taint the brand and as for SV it’d be known as the T3/Illa J show, damn i’d have more respect if they just calle themselves SV.
Oh well. Gotta do what you gotta do.
