Six men, including one who sustained a gunshot wound and claims to be an innocent bystander, are under arrest for allegedly participating in a shooting involving rapper Waka Flocka Flame’s tour bus. The shooting occurred February 16 in Charlotte, North Carolina as the chart-topping rapper was getting stereo equipment installed on his bus. Andre Sellers, Antoine Washington, Xavier Hoover, David Bellamy, Barry Lawrence and Antonio Stukes are being charged with two counts of felony shooting into occupied property, conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Members of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Violent Criminal Apprehension Team were originally after four suspects. The men believed to be involved in the shooting engaged local police in a high-speed chase and later escaped on foot. Stukes was originally questioned by police but not charged after being shot in the shoulder by a member of Waka Flocka Flame’s security detail. Stukes claimed he was an innocent bystander looking to ask Waka about a record deal.
“It’s pretty shocking to me,” Stukes’ attorney, Adam Seifer, told Charlotte’s NBC affiliate WCNC. “I was not expecting this. I was expecting someone in the entourage to be arrested. My client ended up getting shot and having to go to the hospital, and in the end he ends up getting arrested. I’m absolutely shocked.”
Waka Flocka Flame’s camp maintains that all protocol was followed, and that there is video evidence to prove Stukes was shot in self-defense. Waka was in Los Angeles, presumably for the NBA All-Star weekend, so it is unclear if he was made aware of the arrests.
