Sisqó is a fan of Jodeci and even modeled his artistry after the group – which is the reason he thinks DeVante Swing isn’t a big fan of his.
The “Thong Song” singer opened up about their relationship – or lack thereof – in a new interview withVlad TV published on Friday (July 28).

“I was doing my best Jodeci impression [during the earlier years of my career],” he explained. “If y’all thought I sounded like Jodeci or K-Ci, then thank you! I was doing my best Jodeci impression. I met K-Ci, Jojo and Dalvin [DeGrate] several times because we had some shows together. We also are on tour. Jodeci, Dru Hill and SWV this summer at a city near you!”
He continued: “I never met DeVante. I don’t think he likes me. Maybe because I was sounding like [Jodeci]. I just was totally doing my best Jodeci impression.

“‘My Heart Belongs To U’ is my favorite Jodeci song and a lot of people don’t know that the song that we did with Mariah Carey — the remake of Prince’s “Beautiful Minds” — that was produced by DeVante. He’s actually on the song and I still never met him. Maybe I’ll meet him this tour. I don’t know.”

Despite only just being released, the interview clip may be a bit older as the tour Sisqó mentioned with Jodeci, SWV and Dru Hill kicked off last month and is making its way throughout the United States and Canada.

Though Jodeci fans can expect to see the original lineup of DeVante Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and JoJo, one person they won’t see is 2 Chainz — despite his earnest pleas to become the fifth member of the legendary R&B group.
In March, the Dope Don’t Sell Itself rapper was hanging out at home when he decided to cue up Jodeci’s timeless 1995 hit “Freek’n You” on the Bluetooth speakers. Tity Boi began singing along to the song while recording himself on his phone, but little did he know there was someone in his home watching him.

“I wake up feeling so horny, I can’t get you out of my mind, cause sexing you be all I see, I would give anything,” 2 Chainz sang before turning around and catching the person recording him.
In a hilarious moment of quick thinking, the rapper ran into his bedroom and slammed the door behind him as if he was embarrassed. 2 Chainz shouldn’t feel too mortified, though, as BJ The Chicago Kid hopped in his Instagram comments section and offered a collaboration.
“I got a open verse for you,” BJ wrote with several crying laughing emojis. “All singin doe.”
