Last week, the LOX/D-Block general Sheek Louch announced in a Tweet that he and frequent collaborator Ghostface Killah were planning to release a collaborative album called Wu-Block next year. Now, in a recent interview with Vibe, the Silverback Gorilla explained what fans can expect when Shaolin’s finest collide with D-Block’s militia.
“Me and Ghost were just on tour together for about two months,” said Sheek. “So every night, we were writing and eventually the idea to do a project together came about organically. The plan is for me and Ghost to front it and to include certain cats from Wu-Tang and D-Block on some songs so that’s it’s a true Wu-Tang/D-Block album. I already told Raekwon, Styles P and Jadakiss that I’m going to need them on some joints. Cappadonna and Trife [Da God] are down. And we’re going to get some RZA tracks, too. It’s gonna be dope.” (Vibe.com)
Although Sheek and Ghost have yet to approach their label Def Jam about this project, Sheek says that touring gave them the opportunity to listen to beats and collect their thoughts about the album’s direction. He goes on to say that fans can expect to hear material from the duo’s project soon.
“We don’t have many songs done yet because we’ve been working hard on our solo projects,” he said. “But while we were on tour, we were listening to a lot of beats and writing a lot of stuff together, so you’ll start hearing some joints from us soon…trust me, we’re getting this done. We’re going to start sending each other tracks and laying down verses. I’m gonna go out to Staten Island and record. Real talk: We’re getting this album done. Next year, you’re going to hear this Wu-Block project.” (Vibe.com)
Before the two New York giants drop Wu-Block, however, both Sheek and Ghost will release solo albums this year. Sheek Louch is preparing to release his Def Jam debut Donnie G: Don Gorilla on December 14, while Ghostface will drop his ninth LP The Apollo Kids the following week.
Dope!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can’t wait!!!!
I hope they dedicate a track to calling out Nicki, Drake, Nelly and Soulja Boy for being so lame.
Please feel free to add other rappers who deserve the wrath of Wu-Block.
lookin foward to this, ghost’s album, rae’s album and the next lox project.
With the right niggaz on the boards/production, it could and should be an instant classic..remember barrel brothers with sigel, styles and ghost?
Man this would be beautiful if two legendasy east coast groups could pull this off…
yo check out my facebook for some ill music.. i put my heart and soul into this.. alwasy open to criticism… ONE
Don’t Styles P go by the name “the ghost”? So there’s gonna be 2 “ghosts” on this album. Funny. Donna + Jada over RZA producs could be classic. This is the most interesting project I’ve heard about in a while.
