ShaManic Announces Debut Album “The Artist”

Nashville-bred rapper ShaManic is set to release his debut album, The Artist, on April 21 via Classy Turtle Records.

ShaManic’s debut arrives nearly half a decade into his musical career and finds the young rapper grappling with the health issues he’s struggled with over the last several years.

“Growing up in Nashville, it’s kind of impossible not to fall in love with music,” he says. “I wanted to be involved. It was sure true for me. My music is more Hip Hop than anything else, but growing up I listened to everything: Country, Rock, R&B [and] you can definitely hear that influence in my songs, I’m always trying to incorporate something new.”

    1. Seriously, HipHopDX: How did this guy get you guys to write an article about him? My guess is that ether he is friends or family with the writer (or another staff member), or he paid you guys for the exposure. It definitely isn’t about his music, nor is it due to him having any sort of following (the YouTube video you guys linked to had 88 views and zero likes/dislikes, and his most “popular” video had a little over 700 views).

I made the mistake of checking out his YouTube channel, and decided to click on his video for the song “Mindless”, which was honestly one of the shittiest songs I’ve heard in a long time. The beat took me back to the worst part of the late 90’s, with its “funky rap rock” vibe, while the “rapping” was like the Three-Eleven (for all you youngins, Google it) “rapper” doing a terrible Eminem impression. It had all the hallmarks of a shitty rap-rock song, with some new wrinkles thrown in (Young Thug-like mumbling). Long story short, it was wack as fuck, with the only semi-redeeming quality being the “Fear and Loathing”-inspired music video (which wasn’t that great, either).

Regardless of if this article was a friend doing a favor for a shitty musician friend or if it was a case of you guys taking money for exposure, it is messed up either way, and if it happens again, you will lose a fan who has been coming to your site for over a decade now. There is pretty much no chance one of the writers actually liked this bullshit, and if that miraculously was the case here, you guys should really considering firing that writer, because he obviously has terrible taste in music. I just pray this was a (huge) lapse in judgement, and something that will not EVER happen again.

*And this is NOT a case of a hip-hop fan just not “understanding” this style of music; I’m a huge fan of rock music (as well as hip hop, obviously), not to mention the fact I’ve done every drug under the sun (multiple times) and would consider myself a very open-minded individual, with very diverse musical tastes. This guy just sucks, very badly.

      1. I am actually a huge fan of ShaManic and have been following him for a while. To each his own for what they like in music but I don’t think its safe to assume that he knew a writer or paid to have the article featured. He’s actually been in the game for a minute and has been featured on AGirlandHerHipHop, Contact Music, YAHOO, Hip-HOP.com, Blastro, I mean the list goes on!

If its not your style thats one thing but dont dis what someone else fucks with and say that the writer should be fired! WTF Hiphop DX is meant to cover all areas of HipHop music and represent the entire community.

Get over yourself and stop dissing someone else’s accomplishments and hard work! That’s what this game is about and you totally just dissed the integrity of HipHop DX. As an avid reader you should know they don’t even get down like that! They honer hard work and feature hiphop artist!
