Although not traditional Hip Hop news, HipHopDX has consistently reported on last week’s earthquake and present recovery going on in Haiti. That being said, we deemed it worthy to spread light to our readers on the just-published BBC report that Sengal’s President Abdoulaye Wade has offered free land and housing to victim’s of last week’s national disaster.
Pointing out that Haiti’s roots lie in the African continent, including countries like Senegal, President Wade’s spokesperson Mamadou Bemba Ndiaye said that land is available to those who would want to “return to their origin.” The specifics of the offer will be determined based on how many Haitians express interest, but the spokesman emphasized that the land would be fertile, and farm-able, instead of some of Senegal’s deserts.
“Senegal is ready to offer them parcels of land – even an entire region. It all depends on how many Haitians come,” Mr. Bemba Ndiaye said. He added, “If it’s just a few individuals, then we will likely offer them housing or small pieces of land. If they come en masse we are ready to give them a region.”
DX will keep you updated on this.
