Following a lengthy hiatus from music, 40-year-old producer Scott Storch has an array of projects lined up for 2014. In addition to working on albums from Rick Ross and Fat Joe, Storch has partnered with DJ Khaled’s We The Best label.
The New York beatsmith recently spoke on his partnership with DJ Khaled during an interview with Mikey T The Movie Star. According to Storch, who expressed his gratefulness at being brought on to We The Best, he plans on flooding the market with quality music and feels he’s done just that with Vado’s “Look Me In My Eyes.”
“It’s definitely a good look,” Storch said in regards to “Look Me In My Eyes,” which he produced. “I’m happy about it. And it’s something I can be proud of in terms of the fact that it’s real Hip Hop and that’s something that I think Hip Hop is lacking these days.
“I feel really great about the venture with him [DJ Khaled],” he added. “And I feel like if there’s anybody that can really help in this industry, out of all the moguls that are within the Hip Hop industry, he’s definitely the person. He’s got his hand in so many different projects. People value his opinion. And the fact that he holds me in high regard and was really into my music. Selling it proudly. It’s a great thing…I mean, we’re gonna flood the market. We’re gonna do—put [out] quality music. All of the, what I feel are the A-list artists and people that are [out] doing it, you know?”
And with the start of the new year, Storch already has plans on working with Rick Ross on his upcoming album, Mastermind, and is also slated to work with Fat Joe on a project from the Bronx rapper.
“I’m taking a good role in Ross’ album,” Storch said. “And there’s some incredible stuff to come with that. I’m very thankful. Spliff helped me put that together. One of the things that I’m really looking forward to is getting back to working with my brother Fat Joe. Just talked to him over the holiday and he’s anxious and excited to get back in. I think we’re both in a good place now. I always have good luck with Joe. Lightning struck quite a few times in the same place.”
Known for producing a number of hit records including Beyonce’s “Me, Myself And I” and 50 Cent’s “Just A Lil Bit,” Scott Storch’s producing career took a blow in 2007 due to money problems and a reported cocaine addiction.
The producer spoke on the lavish lifestyle that eventually led to bankruptcy during a 2009 interview with MTV News.
“The cost of the drug didn’t affect my life,” he said. “It was the poor decisions I made, that were so poor financially, that caused me to go into this situation where I was forced to change my lifestyle…forced to change a lot of things.”
During an interview with AllHipHop.com last year, Storch revealed that he’s doing fine and is currently “living the healthy life.”

What does Khaled know about quality music? His formula is to put as many of his friends on as many beats as possible and get it out as soon as possible without any sense of cohesion.
