ScHoolboy Q Explains Recording With 2 Chainz

Among the artists featured on ScHoolboy Q’s upcoming album Oxymoron is 2 Chainz, a subject he recently broached in an interview with on Power 106’s “Big Boy’s Neighborhood.” “I like 2 Chainz,” Q said. “People been hitting me and asking me, like tweets… like, ‘Oh, why are you messing with 2 Chainz? This is TDE. That’s not real Hip Hop.’ What do you mean that’s not real Hip Hop? When I go buy the album, it says Rap and Hip Hop. I listen to it, I like it. If you don’t like it, skip his verse. I like 2 Chainz. I think he real.”

ScHoolboy Q opined that fans online believe that they know how to run an artist’s career better than the artists. “A fan thinks he knows more than you! Like ‘Q, you need to go back to the old Q! The Q that didn’t get a deal, the Q that didn’t go on tour! Q, you shouldn’t hang with 2 Chainz because he’s this, that, he older than you, he from …’ Like, what the hell are you talking about?”

Ultimately, however, Q has limited his activity online recently. “Honestly, I’m not really on it like that no more like I used to be. …I go too hard and not realize that this is the virtual world. Anything you say will be held against you, and it will be on that website tomorrow, and you gonna be feeling like a dickhead.”

    1. Yal need to stop with the negative reviews on the album, when you look through it a lot of these were very tough decisions and there really isn’t really one weak song on the album. Not GKMC, but it will definetely be a contender for album of the year. 3 days by now those 6’s will become 9’s

      1. Jimmy made q take off 50 cause 50 left. Who cares if 2 chains is pop rap, he’s still dope. Besides, eminem worked with rihanna yet you never complained.

      2. I dont think he had much of a choice, hes a slave to the labels.

He said himself the 2 artists he wished he had on his album were 50 Cent and E-40 and since 50 cut ties with Interscope you know they’re not trying to give him no shine or features.

      3. Cut the bullshit’ Q said in an interview that he took the song off himself because it didnt fit, you stand are delusional.

    2. Fuck these bitch ass HipHop nerds that think HipHop has to be some super lyrical fuck boy shit, maybe some people like to party and have fun and just enjoy listening to a club song or a playful verse.

Not everybody sits alone in a dark room counting Eminems multis and admiring his alliteration and phonetic structuring on the parameters of his internal rhyme schems.

      1. Maybe people can appreciate these non-lyrical club songs if they weren’t so terrible, repeating the same dumb shit over and over again.

      2. feel you homie, there is a time for one and a time for the other, don’t just be a bitch and hate on any fun song.

      3. If you want a club song bro hiphop isn’t what you looking for you looking for the new miley cyrus the new robin thicke the new lady gaga what you want bro cuz they have a whole genre on that music called fucking pop and that’s where 2 chainz, drake and lil wayne belong bruh.

      4. which category you think they belong in is up to debate, but there are different forms of hip hop such as pop rap and don’t turn down a song just cuz it doesn’t have mad lyricism cuz there is a time to listen the lyrics and a time to bump to a dope sounding fun song.

      5. I don’t mind club songs if an mc can do their job and at drop a dope verse. But that’s not the case these days. .

      6. “than listen to pitbull fag”

hip-hop isn’t what you lookin for? hahahaha shut the fuck up. hip-hop is EXACTLY what offers that type of stuff, like it or not. mango ass nigga

just cause you ain’t fuckin wit it doesn’t mean people who like party songs should go listen to pitbull and miley cyrus

fuckbois like you are exactly who OP talkin about

    3. even I find it weird he uses a 2chainz verse over 50cent.. id choose neither but I guess chainz got his wave Qs gonna ride– don’t think for a second 2chainz will be on anything in 2 years.

      1. Most artists dont want 50Cent on their albums, if I was an artist I would go with 2Chainz because his music is more fun and he isnt rapping about violence all the time. I would also pick Suga Free, Kurrupt and Raekwon over 50.

    4. 2 Chainz is more of a funny charismatic rapper that makes you want to turn up and get hype, 50 is boring always raps about guns.

      1. No, he’s not. He’s a terrible, unfunny rapper with no charisma that makes me want to press the skip button. Besides, 2 Chainz also always rap about guns, too.

    5. this right here is where some hip-hop fans don’t realize they are just as much a problem to hip-hop as hip-hop itself. niggas actin like they in high school, talkin shit on their favorite rapper for makin a song with someone they don’t like. that’s some 4th grade mentality bullshit. I don’t like 2 Chainz but I ain’t gonna bail out on Q just cause he fucks with him. I’ma bail on Q when he starts spitting like ass.

fans who ain’t fuckin with Q, or anyone else who ain’t fuckin with somebody cause they made a song with a nigga, they ain’t fans. they’re fairweather fans, stick-up-the-ass ain’t ate their cereal in the morning fans. I remember people talked sooo much shit when Tech collaborated with Lil wayne… one dope Tech album later and they all right back on his dick like they never left.. fuckbois

      1. I’m not going to get mad at the artists but at the same time, Q is on the hottest up and coming label around, the album should be heavy on TDE influence and what is going on over there. That is what helps create a cohesive album like Death row back in the day hanging out at the studio all working towards the same goal. Did GKMC have many features? no.

    6. Schoolboy Q listening to the fans is a good idea because rappers only have dickriders around them. Besides sometimes rappers think they are GOD and know everything and do bitch ass moves like a song with 2chainz. We the FANS made you dont FORGET that. Without our support you are a broke nigga

      1. Fuckin’ horrible track! I’m playing the whole album now and gotta say – it sucks. There’s some good beats and verses here and there, but as a whole it deserves 2.5/5 rating. Disappointing album.

Kendrick’s album is still the best TDE album.

      2. Heavy and bangin, cant say the same about the rest of the album tho. And I wouldnt expect any of tde members to beat K.dot cd. He way too overhyped, hes the face of the label.

      1. you TDE fans really tried to find every excuse to like this album even though you know in the back of your mind it was just NOISE

      2. Sometimes, whenever a new style comes out, it takes a little sinking in. I remember not liking “Overly Decicaded” at first back in the day. But then I realized that it was some of the best shit I’ve heard in many years. Maybe your thinking is just distorted and a lil fucked up by the hype it has received. But this time, the album’s hype has been met with quality. Oxymoron is one of the best Gangsta Rap album in prolly a decade. Get ya head right,

    7. not a tity boi fan but 2 chainz didnt really hurt the song that much its no so bad. could have been worse for sure.

    8. Rap Nerds make me sick, just like Schoolboy said these rap nerd fans need to shut the fuck up with their stupid elitist bullshit.

They let Eminem rap about fucking his own mother and raping lesbians just as long as he does some internal rhyme schemes and whines about his slutty baby mama with complex metaphors….but when
2-Chainz gets on a track with that charisma and party vibe they want to bitch and moan.

yeah yeah yeah we all know you though the Black Hipster movement was going to be on some Kendrick shit with Anna Wise in the background on every song and some abstract suburb digestible shit compatible with your elitist palette but naw Bruh.

Quincy made an album to his own likes with 2-Chainz, Raekwon, Suga Free, and Kurrupt, yeah that nigga shit thats on the album we know you really wanted Action Bronson, Mackelmore, Earl Sweatshirt, and Hopsin but get over it.

      1. “They let Eminem rap about fucking his own mother and raping lesbians just as long as he does some internal rhyme schemes and whines about his slutty baby mama with complex metaphors….but when
2-Chainz gets on a track with that charisma and party vibe they want to bitch and moan.”

How do you know its the same fans? LOL I think you’re reaching a bit…. we get it you hate EMinem and white people. LMAO

I dont even listen to EM or like him but I thought a 2 Chainz feature was pretty wack but it’s not so bad once I played it a few times.
