Rylo Huncho’s family has understandably been shaken by the aspiring Virginia rapper’s accidental death by a self-inflicted gunshot, which was live streamed last week.

The 17-year-old aspiring rapper fatally shot himself while recording a TikTok video on May 15. In the clip, Rylo was seen dancing with a gun before it went off and struck him in the head. Suffolk Police Department officials have determined the incident to be an accident.

According to court documents obtained by HipHopDX, the aspiring rapper (real name Kentavious Wright) was officially sent to prison on April 26 after he took a plea deal. The charge — originally a capital felony, making him eligible for the death penalty if convicted of the top count — was reduced to a lesser felony, meaning he only has to serve 17 years behind bars.

It is unclear whether Dirty Tay will be eligible for parole before the sentence is up.

According to police, the father and son were driving down Peters Street when a Kia did a U-turn and began to follow them. The car pulled up alongside the passenger side at an intersection and multiple shots were fired, resulting in the child being struck in the head.

The father estimated five shots were fired before the suspect drove to a fire station, with three 9mm shell casings being found at the scene of the crime. The child was rushed to the hospital and was stabilized hours after the shooting.
