Royce Da 5’9″ has resumed taking shots at Lupe Fiasco, threatening to reignite his feud with the Food & Liquor lyricist.

Nickel Nine appears alongside fellow Slaughterhouse alumnus KXNG Crooked on a new song from independent rapper Benzhan called “Never the Same,” which was released on Wednesday (November 15).

On the track, the Detroit native takes aim at Lupe by dismissing him as a competitor unworthy of his lyrical firepower, while also jabbing Mickey Factz for the same reason.

“I’m not here to bury the hatch, it’s just I don’t care to relax/ I don’t think that Lupe’s who I should spit my disparity at/ I don’t think Mickey Factz is who I should give a charity match,” he raps.

Lupe and Mickey have yet to respond.

Royce Da 5’9″ and Lupe Fiasco engaged in lighthearted lyrical battle in 2021 while hosting The Lupe & Royce Show, but things soon escalated as they exchanged lethal diss tracks and pulled the plug on their podcast.

“You forgot the dude who about the Chi whose was locked inside,” Royce rapped on “Silence of the Lambda,” referencing Lupe’s long-imprisoned manager Charles “Chilly” Patton. “Without him, you’d be dead, probably dread standing beside you/ Fed salmon and lied to, while the red camera disguise you/ You violent but where was that for the Craig Kallmans and Kysers?”

Lupe returned fire with “Steve Jobs,” on which he spit: “Listening to your track record, I could see you were skipping classics/ I did it on my first one and delivered to the masses/ Your songs are immemorable, your verses are impenetrable/ I ain’t even listen to that diss record, I only fuck with you ’cause of your interviews.”

The pair also clashed on social media, with Royce calling Lupe a “bitch” on Instagram Live. Mickey Factz also entered the fray and aligned himself with Lupe, even unleashing his own fiery diss track aimed at Royce called “WRAiTH.”

Things eventually died down, and Royce Da 5’9″ later admitted he felt bad about insulting Lupe Fiasco.

“Do I regret it? I don’t know if ‘regret’ is the right word, but I’m not happy about saying that, ’cause I don’t think he’s a bitch,” he said on The Breakfast Club last year while reflecting on their falling-out.

“I don’t think we should speak to each other that way, but I do understand why I said it, ’cause it was just a reaction. It was a point that I got pushed to, and I feel like I gave a lot of warning points. I gave a lot of lead into it, and that’s me knowing myself.”

Royce also clarified that he still likes Lupe Fiasco personally despite their dispute, but they hadn’t spoken since their podcast ended.
