Actor/Rapper Romeo announced Monday (Nov. 19) that he is going to USC to play basketball.
The rapper, who is the son of Master P, is ranked among the top 15 prep point guards in the country, according to the AP.
“This is the most important thing I’ve had to
do and hopefully it sends a message to kids across the country that
education is more important than money,” said Romeo at news
conference. “Getting a college scholarship is more important than
winning an American Music Award, and I plan to be the best
student-athlete I can be at USC.”
It seems as though Romeo is following in his father’s footsteps, as Master P tried out with two NBA teams in the 90s. He is currently a senior guard at Beverly Hills High, averaging 13.9 points and 5.6 assists last season.
Romeo will be putting his music career on hold while he attends college – a decision which his father agrees with. “It’s great for him,” said Master P in a FoxSports.com earlier this year. “USC is a great school and I felt like he made a great decision.”
