According to the New York Post, rumors that former imprisoned rapper Foxy Brown [click to read] was receiving special privileges during her stay at Riker’s Island are completely false.
Rumors began to surface regarding Foxy’s treatment at the prison when it was revealed that she wore high-end items including Gucci sneakers and a Fendi scarf during her stay at the prison.
But according to a spokesperson for Riker’s Island Foxy’s choice of clothes and an interview and photo shoot conducted by XXL magazine on prison grounds were all normal and routine.
“Inmates were entitled to wear their own clothing. That’s her choice,” Stephen Morello, a spokesperson for the prison explained to the New York Post. “The interviews were approved by the [Department of Correction‘s] Department of Media Services. We do it as a matter of routine.”
Back in September 2007, Foxy Brown was sentenced to one year in prison after violating her probation. Foxy was released from prison a few months later in April 2008.
Shortly after her release from Riker‘s Foxy released Brooklyn’s Don Diva [click to read], an album featuring Lil Mo, AZ, Dwele, and others on May 13.
