Rick Ross Discusses MMG Documentary & “Self Made 3’s” Significance

Rick Ross recently explained why Maybach Music Group has decided to release their Self Made 3 compilation album.

“It just feels good to see this come to fruition,” Rick Ross said of Self Made 3 in an interview with New York radio station Power 105.1. “It was just an idea, just a couple of years ago. For all of us, it’s just a little alley-oop leading into our own solo projects, our own solo albums that we want to give our people. It’s just fun to get together.”

Ross also said that a compilation like Self Made 3, which is set to be released September 17, also allows fans to see other musicians that are part of Maybach Music Group.

“We believe in putting out that work,” Ross said. “That’s what keeps us at the top of this game. Compilations, for artists like ourselves, is always a good thing. When you hear these records and you hear the new artists we bringin’ to the folds, the new producers, all the different sounds, and it just give everybody a chance to shine in their own light. I love it.”

Maybach Music Group’s Self Made Vol. 1 was released May 2011. The compilation included contributions from Meek Mill, Wale, Pill and Rick Ross. Self Made 2: The Untouchable Empire, released June 2012, featured contributions from Gunplay, Stalley, Kendrick Lamar, Omarion and Nas.

Beyond a compilation album, MMG is also planning a documentary.

“We actually been filming it for over a year now,” Rick Ross said. “But when we come with it, it’s something that I want to be real dope, as well as get the approval from all the homies when it come to they particular sections. So we always just document what we doin’. It’s all good.”

      1. 50 is a has been? LOL id rather be a has been who sold 30 million records and worth over 150 million than a nigga like who ross who wont accomplish 10% of that! People are already getting sick of ross too. Just go look at the comments on any of his new songs. Hes well on his way to joining the has been club

    1. “That’s what keeps us at the top of this game.”

I didnt know you could be at the top of the game without ever going platinum and having only 1 other gold selling artist on the label!

      1. That’s what most people say. In reality, Rick Ross had platinum albums all his life. I even posted a chart proving otherwise.

      2. A lot of people thought Nas was at the top of his game last time out, and that shit went triple plastic. Sales mean something, but Ross has already shown that going gold seems to be his bench mark. Nothing wrong with a little consistency. Oh, and for the record, Jeezy hasn’t gone platinum in years, so better to stay in your sales range than to decline in sales.

      3. jeezys last album still sold more than officer rickys though

and he still got 3 platinum albums from a time when ross was only goin gold

    2. They left Gunplay at home cause he got knocked out again 2 weeks ago in Tampa for talking tough and embarrassed the label AGAIN!!

    3. This is how a bawse works. Rozay get his acts out there and get em publicity. jeezy lame ass had talented niggas but never game them exposure cuz the nigga was worried his career was windin down and his artists were more talented then he was. Bitch niggas on this site can hate on Rozay all they want the fact is Ross gets his artists albums released and makes hot records that niggas bump. Jeezy and 50 are irrelevant after Rozay ethered they careers.

      Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Rozay never ethered anyones career. Jeezy and 50 have multiple platinum albums! Officer Ross has none.

Another self made album that wont even go gold like the last 2 and Meeks album LMAO yeah thats some boss shit!

      2. Ross and 50 just released new songs on the same day last week

on this website ross got 2290 plays, 90 comments and an average rating of 2.20

new 50 cent song got 11193 plays, 431 comments and an average rating of 4.36

        its over for Ross

      1. lies lies lies. Kendrick did in 9 months what Rick Ross couldnt do in 9 years with just about every big name feature and co-sign you could have.

      2. Rick Ross showed me his platinum plawues. Meanwhile, I saw Kendrick placing orders of 5,000=6,000 a week just to go platinum. He even bought 200k copies opening week,

    4. Kendrick won’t ever see 6 albums, or put anybody else on the map. Going platinum is nice, but not necessary these days to be considered elite.

      1. Putting Stalley, Meek and Wale on is an accomplishment, we need more brothers giving other brothers jobs so we don’t have to work for the peckawoods.

      1. Self Made is a good platform to showcase some of the lesser know artists on MMG like Stalley and Rockie Fresh, I salute Rozay for giving these young up and coming artists the push and promo they need to further their careers.

    5. “Jeezy and 50 have multiple platinum albums”

50 can’t even get an album out after 4 years lol They should make an album about that. Call it Bitch Made Vol. 1.

      1. he will put it out whenever the time is right. its not a race to see who can put out the most non platinum selling albums

    6. Why would anyone want to watch a documentary about these guys? All we gotta do is pop in CB4 if we need a good laugh!

      1. William Roberts is a great actor though hes been in character for like 10 years and only broke character once when he heard them gunshots and crashed into that wall like a true bitch nigga he is!

      2. The people who buy MMG music and go to their concerts would want to see a documentary on them.

Fans of their music…..it seems odd to have to explain something so simple to an idiot, are you on meth?

      3. its gonna be filled with lies though. the man stole another mans life and lied about his past life handcuffing niggas and locking them up in cells. locking up the same niggas who hes pretending to be

    7. as Jeremy implied I am stunned that a stay at home mom can get paid $6642 in one month on the internet. look at here now… http://www.Cafe44.com

This just in: Kendrick ate a burrito and had to shit. HHDX sources may believe this could be a “diss shit” at other rappers. We will keep you posted after he wipes since we have no other stories at this time.

    8. Why are white-skinned people so weird when it comes to HipHop? I blame Emenim.

These freakish loners/losers are always talking about “platinum” as of that matters in this era, people within the culture overstate that Vanilla Ice went 10X platinum as a solo artist and Rakim has never went platinum as a solo artist so what does Platinum really mean?

This is a genre where the Insane Clown Possee have platinum albums but The Roots don’t so why do whites obsess over platinum so much? Is it because sales and buying Emenim CDs is their only connection to the culture and the only thing they value in an artist?

I could care less if an artist goes platinum especially considering that whites are the majority buyers of HipHop and have more disposable income to spend on CDs. I’m glad Rozay is trying to make his team all millionaires.

      1. first of all the roots have 1 platinum album

and second why do you just assume its only white people? thats pretty strange

      2. Anonymous:
i just watched a video from a Ross and Wale show and the entire crowd was white kids holding their iphones! LMAO

        thats a lie right there

      3. i swear its not go to the videos section on this website and click on the live Wale and Ross video. you dont even gotta press play the screen thats up is 96% white kids holding iphones!!!

    9. They should do these forums like they do ESPN where you can only comment through your Facebook, it would weed out a lot of these weirdos.

    10. I just watched a Rozay show from Africa and didn’t see a single white-skinned person, it looked like a Wale concert when Wale is in DC or a ameek concert in Philly.

      1. yeah right. of course theres gonna be no whites in africa. that doesnt change the fact that most of their fans in america are white kids as can be seen in the video on this very website

    11. “Like putting on Meek Mill, Wale and Stalley is really some big accomplishment”

I’m sure they consider signing to a major an accomplishment. They don’t control sales.
