Rick Ross has frequently tipped his hat to the GOATs of the Hip Hop game, and he did it again during a recent episode of the Adin Live show.
The popular YouTuber asked the MMG boss about his top three rappers, and he wasted no time in including two of New York god MCs, and a California-made legend, in his personal Hip Hop Mount Rushmore.
“Top three? That’s Big, that’s Pac, and that’s Hov,” he said around the 10 minute mark of the interview, published on Thursday (January 4). “And a lot of times, for the youngsters, just know that when you hear the OGs like myself and other n-ggas say those names so commonly, it’s because they had the biggest effect, you know what I’m sayin’?
“These are the n-ggas that we watched get rich,” he continued. “Jay, Puff, that was really the first generation that we watched get rich. Because we’ve seen artists that were hugely successful, but were they extremely wealthy? We’re not sure. Watching Run-DMC, you know, they were extremely successful. Were they widely wealthy, though? We’re not sure.”
The Biggest Bawse has frequently spoken about his love for 2Pac, going so far as to speak out against Jada Pinkett Smith’s constant stories about the late legendary rapper during the press tour for her memoir.
During an interview with BET Talks, the Ross put Smith on blast for revealing that ‘Pac suffered from Alopecia, the hair-loss condition that she also has.
Rozay’s frustration was tinged with humor, though, as he struggled to properly pronounce “Alopecia.”
“At the end of the day, come on man, come on Jada. Let 2Pac rest in peace,” he vented. “Appaleesha — what did she say he got?”
After the host corrected him about the proper pronunciation, Ross continued: “Tell me what this is — but we ain’t need to know that. Dawg a legend. He been dead 30 years. Apaleesha? Alopecia.”
The MMG mogul offered a suggestion of his own: “She should’ve told us a Will [Smith] story. Talk about your husband, baby. You married him. Tell us how you fell walking down the carpet one time and we ain’t know you ain’t have on no panties or something.”
He also once explained why dinner with JAY-Z is more valuable than a half-million dollars.
“I’ma take the dinner and I’ma tell you why,” Ross said in a video posted to his Instagram Stories. “In ’08 when I turned in my second album [Trilla], I had a meeting with Hov. We went to lunch. Philippe Chow, Manhattan — the orange chicken on the stick with the peanut sauce was the vibe at the time. Let me cut through the conversation.”
The rapper continued: “He said, ‘Rozay, versus writing to every beat you like, write to every record you could make work.’ He told me a quick story about ‘Big Pimpin.’ I said, ‘Okay, bet.’ I went from writing one record to every 80 beats I like, to writing 40 records out of every 80 beats I could make work.”
Rozay credited Hov’s advice with helping him level up as an artist which, in turn, brought him more success in the rap game and laid the foundation for his other lucrative business ventures.
“It took me to another level as a writer, another level as an artist,” he continued. “The amount of work I was putting out was next level. So you gotta ask yourself, are you ready to digest the knowledge or you just want to look at this watch at the table?”
Ricky trying to drop knowledge that we already know, come on fam tell use something that we don’t know for 2024. Carry on!!!
Not Knowledge, but simply a biased opinion from someone who makes money in this fraudulent genre, you can’t even dance to.
would have to do a lot with marketing wouldn’t it mtv played that shit like walloping a dead horse the internet was here but so damn expensive
Too bad being a ” legendary Rapper ” doesn’t mean you had any talent whatsoever! Worse even the proliferation of Rap Music despite it being the only genre where no special talent is necessary, and its destructive influence on young Black Kids by promoting criminality and bombarding them with bold sexual images and lyrics when their minds should be focused on reading, writing, and arithmetic like the kids of Immigrants they are competing with is indicative that nobody cares what happens to the Black Community which has been leaderless since Malcolm and Martin died.
Okay, grandpa. And have you heard if you listen to metal music reversed it has a message from Satan?
Hey ” young and dumb ” not sure what your asinine point is about Metal Music, but at least they can play a guitar and probably read music. My concerns are the harms to the Black Community of this fraudulent genre. Care to respond to the truth I posted ” young and dumb “. Can you even put together an intelligent argument in defense?
Part 2- “Rap Music Exists Because It’s Cheap To Produce”.
Its Harms to The Black Community and Disconnects from the Greatest American Music that Preceded it ( R&B, & Jazz ) has grown simply because it is cheap to produce, created a simple genre where non-talents could make money and act like a star, and the Black Community no longer is connected to the leadership and the moral strength and direction that helped us overcome hundreds of years of Racism, and Oppression in Countries controlled by White Men.
Quick question here Mr Brown, is this what you believe is talent or do you have facts that we can use to reference as to what is talent and what is not talent?
Are you unaware that all other music forms require either playing an instrument, or extraordinary voice or learning dance and or years of practise to reach a level where an expert or experts views the talent as special ? Is it not obvious that anybody can climb down from a stripper pole, or wake up in the morning and declare themselves a Rapper and go and buy a $99 synthesizer, and put some simplistic rhymes together? I laid out clear reasons why I strongly believe Rap Culture has harmed our Community in a no of ways? Care to address or counter any of the points I made ?
@Vincent Brown: Not all music forms. You don’t have to actually play any instruments to make harsh noise music nor field recordings. Yes, they are genres. I bet you’re still on Teletubbies, that wouldn’t ‘harm’ you. Learn what are some differences between art and life, idiot. Otherwise you’ll be offended by Tom and Jerry.
I will ignore your attempt at insult as probably indicative of being raised by wolves, or years in prison, and since you missed all of the clear points I raised and my concerns for the Black Community perhaps you never finished JHS. My points were the negative influence of this fraudulent genre that requires no artistry at all. If anybody can do it there is no real art at all. The only thing that offends me is the harms to the Black Community and the assault on the joy of music this simplistic slop that has continued like a disease has had.
Part 3 ” Rap Music’s Greatest Harms ”
1- Bombarding young minds with sexual images and lyrics when their young minds should not be focused on sex.
2-Celebrating and promoting criminality, violence, and degradation of women. In fact, in the visual form, it has eliminated the beauty of Afro-Centric looking women for “white-like”, or whiter looking women.
3-The Industry promotes wealth by any means and the people who have it should be idolized.
4- Instead of promoting unity and the morality that has helped the Black Community to overcome oppression it promotes self-hate, hate, and disunity.
Part 4 ” Rap Music Celebrates Unworthy Legends “.
If Biggie Smalls who lived on my block in Brooklyn and sold crack around the corner is a ” legend ” then what do we call someone like Smokey Robinson the creator of great music for 60 years? What should we call Nat King Cole, Sam Cooke, or Aretha Franklin?
It’s bad enough that this fraudulent genre ( the only music genre where no talent is necessary) dominates the airwaves produced by Black Artists and disconnects the World from the greatest American Music and Artists that preceded it, but it has young Blacks celebrating non-talents like they should be idolized as ” legends “!
Again, I say if Tupac is a ” legend ” what title does James Brown deserve ?
Agree 100%. And don’t forget it’s still outrageous that some people like ham and eggs while DiCaprio is the best actor ever.
Pac was a great mainstream rapper, but he’s not even a Top 10 mc – not even in his age. BIG and Jay are overrated pop rappers with bad taste. Oh, and Rick Ross is still an idiot.
This dudes infatuation with money is very telling of who he thinks he is and his self worth. He ties everything to money. Everything. He respects money way too much.
The Jay knob slobbing has to stop in 2024, dude hasn’t done anything notable in a long time. Others have passed him. Let it goooooooo.

Fuck Jay Z
It proves officer Ricky does not know shxt about rap music. He spent to much time in penitentiary checking for inmates cell number than listening to hip hop. Otherwise he would not have forgot about Nas who can run circles around Big, Pac and Jay. FOH!
who cares what idiots think. there’s been all kinds of great mcs and those that worship crack dealers and shooters will end up right back where they came from
