Rap Genius has changed its name to Genius. The website confirms this its website, which now redirects users from rapgenius.com to genius.com.
“Welcome to Genius.com, the brand-new hub for all the Genius communities (Rap Genius, Rock Genius, Lit Genius, everything),” the site says. “Starting today, ‘Genius’ is the new name of the grand project, born from rap’s rib, to annotate the world.”
As the above quote explains, Rap Genius is still part of the company, though it is no longer its main hub. The company also explains its purpose with the following:
“Genius breaks down text with line-by-line annotations, added and edited by anyone in the world. It’s your interactive guide to human culture,” the site says.
