Rae Sremmurd Speak On Transcending “Turn-Up”

With their debut album SremmLife released yesterday, Rae Sremmurd recently stopped by the HipHopDX offices to talk about their aspirations for their current and future music.

“I wanna try to do all kinds of genres, I don’t wanna put no top on it,” Swae Lee said in a clip that debuted as a part of today’s DX Daily. “We have different songs coming out too. It’s not all just ‘turn the club.’ We got some songs for the ladies.”

Adding on, Slim Jimmy spoke about transcending the “turn-up” label.

“We definitely going for the artistry,” he said. “Not just for like, ‘Pah, pah!’ We not gon’ be ‘turn-up’ rappers I guess you would classify them. We gon’ do music.”
