Quando Rondo has appeared in court to fight for his freedom, and things aren’t looking good for the Georgia rapper.
During the rapper’s bond hearing, which was held on Friday (June 23), Jonah Pine — Quando’s longtime attorney — attempted to argue that his client was a fine upstanding citizen that should be released on his own recognizance.
“In this community, my client is like a local hero,” he said. “Born and raised here, done good, had a successful business.”

The district attorney, Chris Stofle, disagreed — and claimed that Quando Rondo (real name Tyquian Terrel Bowman) is a violent threat. “Is he a threat to the community? Yes, he is,” he said. “The cause that we have shown that [Quando] made phone calls to other 60s Rollin gang members and said they are 1100 gang members up here—1100 is the opposition—and said bring your guns here. His words, your honor. That is a danger in the community.”
He continued: “When you have people coming to a movie theater bringing guns…that’s a danger to the community. That is the language that’s in the indictment.”
Earlier in that same bond hearing, Quando Rondo’s attorney submitted a letter of support from his label, Atlantic Records.
“He’s got the support of one of the greatest record labels in this country. The same record label as Led Zepplin and Ray Charles, that’s his label,” Rondo’s defense attorney Jonah Pine told the court. “They’ve provided a letter to us, it’s very heartfelt and talks about his career.”
As part of their argument for his bond, his attorneys say that ankle monitoring would be difficult due to the amount of travel required. However, the state countered that his alleged involvement in the Rollin’ 60s gang makes him dangerous and likely to run away.
Judge Tammy Stokes has yet to make a decision on Rondo’s bond, but said she’s “taking all of the information presented by both sides and thinking it over.”

Rondo was charged with “2 counts of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s controlled substances law, 1 count of participating in criminal activity affiliated with a street gang, and 1 count of illegal use of a cell phone to facilitate a drug deal.”
He was taken to Chatham County jail, where he remains as of this writing. A date for a decision on his bond has not yet been set.
