Rondo was sentenced in December after pleading guilty to a single count of conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana in August.

Initially facing five years, the Savannah, Georgia rapper (real name Tyquian Bowman) instead received two years and nine months behind bars, along with a $40,000 fine and three years on probation following his release.

“As crazy as it sounds, that’s enough time to really sit down, rehabilitate myself, come up with some better plans, come out and move forward for my family and friends,” he said.

He added that he wants to serve as a role model for the youth and show them that they “can do something way more better and positive” and that “doing the right thing and walking down the right path is cool.”

Quando Rondo was originally charged with the more serious crime of drug conspiracy and participating in criminal street gang activity, but later struck a deal with prosecutors where he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

The controversial rapper previously apologized for his actions, saying: “I’ve had ups and downs, but I know I can do better — not just for myself, but for the community that has supported me. Savannah deserves more from me and I’m working hard to be a better person.”

Rondo also has an open case relating to a DUI following a high-speed car crash in July 2023. He has pleaded not guilty in that case.

The “I Remember” hitmaker was reportedly seen speeding before crashing into another car. During the incident, he was also allegedly showing signs of an overdose, for which medical professionals at the scene administered Narcan.
