QD3 Preps Documentary About Hip Hop and Police

    Hip-Hop stars have never truly had a loving relationship with the police. From N.W.A’s F— the Police to Ice-T’s infamous Cop Killer, rappers have never been too kind to the man with the badge. Recently, the tensions have grown.

    Derick Parker, the man known to many as The Hip-Hop Cop is the focus of Black and Blue: Legends of a Hip-Hop Cop, a new documentary about covert surveillance of Hip-Hop artists.

    In partnership with director Peter Spirer and Image Entertainment, the retired NYPD detective is ready to discuss his questionable practices. While the NYPD has consistently denied that the Rap Intelligence Unit has ever existed, Parker is ready to open up discussion about his work which included round-the-clock surveillance, secretly gathered police records and mug shots of rappers.

    “The Hip-Hop Police” has been the target for many attacks by emcees such as Papoose, 50 Cent, G-Unit, Shyne, Lil Kim and more.

    The film will be the newest edition to Quincy Jones III’s QD3 Collection, which has previously released Hip-Hop films such as Beef, Beef 2, Letter to the President & The MC.
