Pusha T Says Fatherhood Changed His Perspective On Drake Beef

Pusha T appeared on an episode of Desus & Mero to promote his most upcoming project, It’s Almost Dry, as well as talk about working with mogul/rapper JAY-Z on April 7. However, around six minutes into the discussion, Desus asked Pusha about his lyrical feud with Toronto superstar Drake and what has compelled him to move past it.

“I don’t like the energy of mentioning my son in that type of energy — or any kid in that type of energy,” he says referencing his first-born son, Nigel. “ It’s not my thing right now. I got my son! And it’s like, with me, I’m just not going to play about anything involving him. Like, I don’t play nothing. So it’s like, ‘You know what? I’ll just [leave it alone].'”

Pusha T Recalls JAY-Z's Reaction To Hearing 'Neck & Wrist'

The irony of this turnaround is significant considering Pusha T was the one who threw gasoline on their beef when her alleged Drake was hiding a child on 2018’s “The Story of Adidon.” However, Pusha T and his wife had their first son, Nigel Brixton, in June 2020, and it seemingly gave Push a different perspective on the verbal jousting.

“It’s selflessness,” he added. “And I’m very selfish, I’m a super selfish person; with my son, I have totally taken myself [out of it]. It’s all him first.”

Fans are anxiously awaiting the release of It’s Almost Dry, Pusha T’s fourth studio album. The Virginia-bred rapper also recently announced upcoming tour dates via Twitter. Watch Pusha T’s interview on Desus & Mero below.

    1. This a L for push. As we progress, he is as guilty of everything he tried to blame drake for, including having his own son and not wanting the spotlight on him. What a herb

      1. born in the bronx, yes. moved as a toddler. so yes, responsible journalism would’ve made note that he’s from BX but bred VA

    2. Push was born in BX, but grew up in and reps VA hard. Do this author know anything about the Clipse?

    3. How many times Pusha gotta tell y’all to stop referencing him as a NY rapper just because he was born there? Smh

      1. to be fair, he was born there, so the author isnt fully off here.. however, i believe he moved to VA at a young age, and he’s always repped VA, so yeah the writer shouldnt have called him a “Bronx rapper”
