Pusha T Explains No Malice Not Appearing On “My Name Is My Name”

While Pusha T is appearing on No Malice’s solo debut Hear Ye Him, No Malice is not a guest on Pusha T’s own debut, My Name Is My Name.

To Pusha, who is signed as soloist to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music through Def Jam Records, the absence of his blood brother and Clipse co-founder is deliberate. “No [No] Malice collaborations, simply because The Clipse brand is so strong to me, that I don’t want to toy with that—outside of The Clipse,” he said to Boi-1da.net.

In the time since 2010’s Til’ The Casket Drops, third official Clipse album, a lot has changed between the Brothers Thornton. No Malice has since published a memoir focused on his spiritual awakening to Christianity, while Pusha notably appeared on Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Big Sean’s Finally Famous: The Album, and The Man With The Iron Fists soundtrack, among others. Pusha explains that with the creative and personal shifts, The Clipse’s catalog remains open to extending. “[If] we can figure out how to present this album to both of our likings, then you’ll have another Clipse album,” Pusha said.  “and we will treat it as The Clipse.” Earlier this year, Pusha claimed the fourth album released by the Virginia pair will be called As God As My Witness.

Despite his appearance on “Shame The Devil” though, Pusha wants to be careful with the group’s name. “We’re not gonna compromise that though, with one-off features and stuff.”
