Pusha T and Malice have been quite successful as a duo. The two have been collaborating as The Clipse for years but signs indicate that they may be releasing solo projects soon. While solo efforts generally call for break-up rumors to flare up, Pusha T recently spoke with Vibe to explain why that isn’t something fans should fear here.
“We got Re-Up Gang Records, so we’re trying to exercise every aspect of putting music out there,” Pusha said, before giving fans some relief. “The Clipse will definitely be putting more music out. But it only makes sense for us to do solo projects and build a catalog with solo records by ourselves as well as [our artist] Ab Liva.”
The solo move will also allow Pusha to showcase a different side of himself, rarely seen or heard on Clipse material.
“I think I’ve grown with every Clipse album, but there’s an emotional side of Pusha that people need to see. I want people to get a little more in tune with my thought process. A lot of times people hear me and think, ‘Wow! That’s a dope verse!’ but it’s way beyond that with me. I want people to understand who I am and get inside my thought process. I think I can do that with a solo project.”
Reminds me of EPMD. Not the drama.. just the fact that because of the chemistry they had.. their solo projects never achieved the success they had as a group at their pinnacle.
Yeahhh true. Look at what happened when C.L Smooth tried to go solo! FAIL.
I don’t think there’s been one duo to ever split up and have truly successful solo careers apart from one another. Just put out more Clipse albums and throw a couple of solo tracks on there … that would be better.
I wish the both of them the best of luck. While I highly doubt their solo projects will be selling crazy units, I’m sure their core fan base will support it and purchase it. Since they’re brothers, I don’t see them seriously beefing and splitting up like ordinary groups would. I can’t say this comes as a surprise though, I always thought Malice’s faith would conflict with the group.
I saw them in columbus a few weeks back and pusha promised two solo albums, we got it 4 cheap vol. 4, and new clipse in 2010
clipse have always been hot
All I have to say is, look at what this type of move did to Outkast and EPMD….egos are for lames man…They’ll never recover the luster as a group if they go through with it.
nOT A GOOD MOVE
there is a “web//site” named “sexyblackwhite” for dateing or relationship, black or white singles can go there to find something sexy or beauty online !!
Them dudes is brothers, so all that epmd comparison wont work. They broke up because one was fucking the other out of money, as far as C.L.Smooth goes, well ya boy Pete Rock made him, he cant spit that toxic shit like pusha and mal can. Also Pusha is the one thats featured on someone else LP, like Slim Thug and Loso. So he gon be alright. Prodigy was hard on his own with HNIC, so there that go. I know my shit fam, im student of this art form so these are all facts and backed up statement, real talk.
Pete Rock made C.L. Smooth? RFLMAO!!! Wow! Now that’s a fuckin’ clown statement you just made…Okay if Pete Rock made CL Smooth then you tell me where the fuck would Pete Rock’s name be under production right now? and the same goes for DJ Premier and Guru…If DJ Premier made Guru then where would DJ Premier’s name be under production right now? Whether you hate to hear it or not, CL Smooth and Guru helped play a significant role in establishing Pete Rock and Premier’s sound to be heard across the world in order for them to be widely known even more so that other rappers could hear their beats so that they could work with them to help brand their names and distinct sound.CL Smooth and Guru are both responsible for helping to brand Pete Rock and Premier signature sound in Hip-Hop with the beats that they chose from Pete and Premier. Now what if CL and Guru decided to say no to Pete and Premier and never did any group albums? That means Pete and Premier would’ve gone out to find some other rappers to help establish their beats in order to work with others. So I’m just saying that cats need to really think about what the fuck they say before they start shitting on CL Smooth or Guru.Pete needed CL and Premier needed Guru whether you like it or not.CL and Guru picked up Pete’s and Premo’s beats and spit over them so that they could be heard throughout the entire world and Pete and Premo were able to get their names branded in the process and CL and Guru didn’t have to help do that if they didn’t want to so these producers need to start pulling their egos out of their asses acting like they did it all by themselves when that’s not necessarily the case. The truth hurts now don’t it!
They’ll go solo for about five minutes. Each go wood, and then be back as a group. They might not sell alot of records, but they got an established name. Hold onto that.
they’re fuckin brothers(from the same parents)that bond will never break they are the only brother group worth mentioning(kane&abel/twin hype)
good for them, but I couldn’t be less interested in pusha or malice after that last whack whack album. it was so bad, it made me reconsider whether I actually like their first 2 lps. damn.
