The pair were spotted together during a recent interview with L.A.’s Real 92.3 to explain how they came together via an airport. According to Polo G’s account, he and a friend were trekking through LAX when the young artist approached them.
Mikey convinced them to listen to his music despite their initial reluctance, and after hearing some tracks, they were hooked. His deal with ODA was finalized shortly thereafter.
“Any artist that I ever scouted or got something to do with, I’m big on creating real relationships and genuine relationships,” Polo G said as Mikey chimed in noting, “that’s what it’s all about.
On Wednesday (May 24), CNN Mikey released his new single, “FOR MY PEOPLE,” and it’s accompanying visual.
Despite this, Polo G has encountered some difficulties recently. Earlier this week, the rapper faced an onslaught of negative comments online after bragging about traveling without security.
Social media users called him “stupid” after a video of him wandering outside with a massive chain around his neck went viral. He also boasted that while he doesn’t move with security, he’ll never get caught “lacking.”
“All on the strip by my lonesome today,” Polo said. “I ain’t lacking, though. The [pistol] on my hip, I ain’t lacking, though. On my kids, n-ggas know just how I’m coming. I’m the only rapper you know who pop out dolo with no security.”

Fans were quick to criticize Polo G’s flex, with a few noting the slew of high-profile murders and shootings that have plagued the rap community in recent years.
“It ain’t a flex to be stupid,” wrote one critic in an Instagram comment. “Just ask JayDaYoungan, Young Dolph, PNB Rock,Pop Smoke, XXXTentacion,Lil Tjay, FBG Duck, TakeOff and the list goes on.”
